Facilities Manager / Engineer

Element Biosciences is a multi-disciplinary startup focused on innovating genetic analysis tools for the research and clinical markets. The Company's technology will broaden the end user experience through improved data quality and simplified workflows to benefit discoveries and diagnosis in healthcare.

As the Facilities Manager, you will be reporting to the Director of Business Operations, supporting the facilities infrastructure for locations in the United States and abroad.   You will support Element’s growth by ensuring that all facilities are fully operational and properly maintained to deliver best-in-class workplace environments and experiences, all while handling a variety of other responsibilities at a rapidly growing company.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
·       Oversee day-to-day facilities operations, building systems, maintenance, safety systems at all Element Biosciences office locations.
·       Manage external vendors and professional service providers including property management, contractors, janitorial, pest control, etc.
·       Plan and perform maintenance tasks as necessary.
·       Manage facilities ticketing system.
·       Work with Operations, Laboratory, and EH&S management to support site master planning efforts.
·       Assist with the planning and execution of laboratory, office, and facilities moves'.
·       Basic laboratory equipment setup.
·       Own security and surveillance systems, including security badge access.
·       Act as emergency contact and respond to site emergencies as required.
·       Ensure company work environments are Safe, Healthy, Sustainable, and Fun.
·       Assist in maximizing new hire onboarding experience by partnering with the Human Resources team.
·       Partner with the IT department to ensure appropriate services are provided for Element Biosciences employees at all company facilities.
·       Develop project scopes of work (SoW’s), Request for Proposals (RFP’s) and compare bids to facilitate key project decisions.
·       Assist in developing and managing Facilities Capex and Opex budget.
·       Maintain accurate and organized records.
·       Other duties as assigned. 
 

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
·       Working knowledge of architectural, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing, systems.
·       Ability to manage multi-location sites in the Life Science, Genomics, and/or Biotechnology industry.
·       Customer service-oriented.
·       Effective communicator and team player.
·       Resourceful, flexible, and adaptable; no task is too big or too small.
·       Can orchestrate multiple projects at once, keeping things on track while keeping stakeholders in the know.
·       Domestic travel up to 10%.
 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
·       5+ years ‘experience in the biotechnology sector, preferred.
·       Experience using AutoCAD.
·       Familiarity with BMS systems.  Experience with Siemens BMS is a plus.
· Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is a plus, (an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered).
 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
·       Must be able to lift 50 pounds
