Lets do this. Lets change the world. We currently have an opportunity in the Process Development Business Strategy Integration (BSi) group for a Senior Manager, Business Performance.

Process Development is responsible for enabling commercialization of the product pipeline, product lifecycle management, and technical manufacturing support of Amgen commercial products. BSi maximizes Process Developments ability to deliver on the highest value opportunities by bridging the business of Amgen and the science of PD through cross-functional alignment and integrated business insights. We do this through 4 strategic pillars: (1) Data and Systems, (2) Insights and Decision Support, (3) Productivity and Financials, and (4) Operational Strategy.

The BSi group is seeking a highly motivated individual who will be a member of the BSi leadership team, lead initiatives, perform strategic analysis, develop business cases , and lead operational excellence and continuous improvement within Process Development. This position will work with key business partners and functional groups to deliver realistic and achievable recommendations to Process Development leadership. The successful candidate will also lead and manage teams to advance Process Development objectives.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide decision support: Develop business cases and strategic analyses based on financial and resource modeling to evaluate PD technologies and lifecycle management ideas. Drive alignment PD-wide and cross-functionally by carefully considering inputs, managing uncertainty, and capturing assumptions. Clearly communicate recommendations and present to senior leadership.

  • Provide business process leadership: Work with our business partners from across Operations, Finance, Commercial, R&D and Strategy to successfully deliver on BSi commitments. Drive processes to ensure that alignment communications are efficient and timely.

  • Manage and lead complex, cross-functional projects which will have implications for Process Development, Manufacturing, and Operations network.

  • Lead staff to establish and lead a PD OE network to drive a culture of Continuous Improvement.

  • Lead staff to monitor total productivity realization through budget reduction and productivity.

  • Actively contribute to BSi group strategy and goal setting.

  • Partner with CMC Lifecycle Management, Operations Strategic Planning, and Operations Finance on key functional and corporate initiatives.

  • Present recommendations to Senior Management and drive decisions.

  • Manage a high-volume of projects simultaneously while consistently delivering high quality results.

  • Conduct project scoping and chartering, define execution strategy, and guide project completion.

  • Provide thought leadership and guidance in business and financial analysis, business value capture.

  • Leverage network and relationships to identify business requirements and potential opportunities.

  • Recruit, train, and develop staff.

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate and 2 years of engineering, science or business management in life sciences industry experience

Or

Masters degree and 4 years of engineering, science or business management in life sciences industry experience

Or

Bachelors degree and 6 years of engineering, science or business management in life sciences industry experience

Or

Associates degree and 10 years of engineering, science or business management in life sciences industry experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of engineering, science or business management in life sciences industry experience

  • Strong quantitative skills including financial analysis (discounted cash flow analysis, NPV) and cost accounting.

  • Project management skills to review and understand timelines based on cross-functional inputs and assumptions.

  • Ability to multitask; effectively prioritize, plan, and follow through on complex projects.

  • Ability to manage and lead complex, cross-functional team responsible for driving Continuous Improvement in Process Development in alignment with the Operations network.

  • Establish and lead a PD OE network to drive a culture of Continuous Improvement

  • Demonstrated understanding of drug development, commercialization, product lifecycle management, and operations planning

  • Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing, supply chain fundamentals and risk management.

  • Ability to communicate and collaborate cross-functionally.

  • Good business acumen, high-level strategic thinking and strong analytical skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to structure, pragmatically scope, and solve abstract and complex problems.

  • Strong writing and presentation skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with a demonstrated ability to drive decisions.

  • Proven experience as a member and leader of a high performing team.

  • Proven leadership skills, organizational and project management experience.

  • Experience developing and mentoring staff.

  • Good working knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint.
