This position is part of the US Finance Shared Services (FSS) Record to Report (RTR) organization. FSS RTR US is responsible for centralizing and executing accounting processes, governance and controls while delivering organizational efficiencies via centralization of common accounting processes. 

 

The Accounting Manager will have global accounting responsibilities and provide FP&A guidance for AIP (AbbVie Incentive Plan), Global Relocation, US Lobby Reporting and other special projects. This highly visible role actively engages with US Functional leads in Commercial, Operations, R&D, International FD’s, FPA leads, Accounting COE, Government Affairs and HR. This position will report to the Accounting Associate Director and have four direct reports.

 

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Oversee/manage all aspects of monthly, quarterly, annual Plan, and LBEs as required for Global AIP (AbbVie Incentive Plan), Global Relocation and US Lobby Reporting.
  • Effectively communicate and work with stakeholders to support and develop consistent global accounting and FP&A processes.
  • Provides relevant variance analysis and develops meaningful management reporting schedules and ensures accuracy and predictability of results and key metrics.
  • Accounting responsibilities include accounting for accruals and prepaids, approving journal entries and account reconciliations. Partnering with FPA and other business associates to ensure appropriate accounting is executed for business transactions.
  • Responsible for ensuring accounting processes are GAAP, company policy compliant, and aligned with SOX and Internal control requirements.
  • Lead the preparation of audit schedules, walkthrough and ad-hoc requests received throughout the year.
  • Supports key projects and initiatives (ie. Allergan Integration, management reporting and optimization) and drive process improvements. 
  • Responsible for staff development, coaching and providing timely feedback on performance and development opportunities for staff.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy or Finance
  • Minimum 7+ years of progressive and related experience in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA and/or MBA preferred
  • Proficient in business applications: Blackline, TM1, SAP and HFM
  • MS Office with strong Excel skills in data compilation and aggregation (i.e. pivot tables, vlookup and macros)
  • Strong financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Self-starter with ability to operate independently, drive processes, identify and implement process improvements, establish, and adjust priorities to achieve objectives and operate with speed and agility.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written), with all levels of management and including the ability to listen well and to influence others that do not report directly.
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly to change to achieve required timelines
