General Summary:

Fate Therapeutics is seeking a motivated individual skilled in cell biology to join a growing Clinical Translation team in support of the companys clinical trials utilizing off-the-shelf, iPSC derived cancer immunotherapies. The primary functions of this role include processing human samples from subjects in clinical trials and performing biomarker assays. The successful candidate will have experience isolating human PBMCs from whole blood. This is a full-time position reporting to an Associate Scientist, Translational Science, and is located at our corporate headquarters in San Diego, California.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform PBMC isolation and cryopreservation from human whole blood samples.
  • Review and analyze data for assurance of assay quality and consistency.
  • Assist with cell- and serum-based biomarker assays, including flow cytometry and multiplexed immunoassays.
  • Maintain sample documentation and utilize electronic sample tracking systems.
  • Assist with maintenance of the laboratory, equipment, and inventory.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. / A.S. degree in Biological Sciences or other related field with 2+ years of relevant laboratory experience in a clinical or biopharmaceutical setting.
  • Previous PBMC isolation experience; experience with flow cytometry is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with human blood and blood products using sterile technique.
  • Cell culture experience required.
  • Highly organized, attention to detail, excellent record keeping abilities, and strong problem- solving skills.
  • Understanding of immunology is a plus.
  • Experience with immunoassays is a plus, particularly MSD or Ella multiplexed assays.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Will require working with cells and cell lines of human and/or animal origin
  • Occasional evening and Saturday work will be required
  • 100% on-site work at corporate headquarters in San Diego, CA
