Job Details

Regeneron's Protein Biochemistry Group, in Tarrytown NY, and who does extensive biophysical characterization of therapeutics for our company, is seeking a Scientist, AAV Impurity Method Development. In this role, you will be responsible for development of impurity assays to support AAV programs.

A Typical Day in the Role of Scientist Might Look Like:
  • Develop and implement new impurity methods including host cell protein assays to support AAV product development.
  • Prepare and characterize complex immunogens for antibody generation
  • Work with CROs to optimize immunization strategies to generate antibodies in goats and rabbits
  • Purify polyclonal antibodies from rabbits and goats using antigen specific affinity columns
  • Optimize antibody labeling using biotin, HRP or other dye labels
  • Develop and qualify ELISA-based impurity methods using in-house produced reagents
  • Work as part of a collaborative team to meet project milestones
  • Develop additional novel impurity assays using state-of-the-art technologies to advance our capabilities in the AAV area
  • Maintain documentation of experimental procedures and results in an electronic laboratory notebook
  • Present results at various meetings, both internally and externally to collaborators and at conferences
  • This position will provide the opportunity to make visible contributions to AAV projects while interacting with a knowledgeable and dedicated multidisciplinary team

This role requires a PhD in Biochemistry, virology, molecular biology or related discipline with 0-2 years of experience with an emphasis on impurity method development. Hands-on experience developing biophysical and biochemical methods for impurity quantification, including ELISA-based methods and experience with Gyros, Ella  or other multiplexing platforms is a plus. Demonstrated solid proficiency in various protein purification techniques including affinity, ion exchange, gel filtration; strong FPLC/liquid chromatography experience. Experience in immunogen preparation, polyclonal antibody generation and purification. Experience with protein characterization techniques such as SDS-PAGE, Western blot, Kinetic and Binding studies using SPR/BLI technology, CE-SDS a plus. Experience in labeling proteins with biotin, alexa fluor, HRP and/or other dye labels preferred. A high level of scientific initiative and ability to multi-task, prioritize work and handle multiple projects at once is preferred. Previous experience in development or qualification of AAV or viral vector impurity methods is a plus. The ability to work independently but also within a collaborative team environment and have flexibility to work on changing priorities is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary.
