Amgen has a new opportunity for aSupply ChainManager for ourExternal Supply, PerformanceExcellence & Resiliency group,Operational Excellenceteam,in Thousand Oaks, CA.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual who, under minimal guidance, will be responsible for leading all aspects of key initiatives and projects across multiple business functions in support of our Operational Excellence program.

This role will enable business areas/plants to improve efficiency by reducing rework and waste through the use and application of Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies. The role willreporttoSupplyChainSr. Manager.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Articulates vision and identifies strategic objectives partnering withCDMO & RMD site leads and stakeholders
  • Partner withExternal Supply leaderstodrive continuous improvementandbuild robust business processes and relationships withCDMO& RMDsuppliers.
  • Leverages Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigmaprinciples andtools to institutionalize continuous improvementmindsetand practices amongExternal Supplycross functionalgroups
  • Facilitateor support in executingOEactivities,such asRoot Cause Analysis, Lessons Learned,Lean Transformation,Visual Management, Daily Management Systems,Mistake-Proofing, Standard Work,Kaizen,Value Stream Mapping,Gemba Walk,and5S
  • Lead with clear accountability for resultsin issue resolution/problem solving toensuresupply withquality,efficiency,costeffectiveness,andagility
  • Ensurevisual management withmetricsisin place to measure, track and communicate the performance of the ExternalSupply groups, CDMOs and suppliers.
  • IdentifieswaysviaVoice of Customer (VOC) anddata analyticsto improvebusinessprocesses todeliverproductwiththe highest quality, lowest cost and shortest lead time
  • Developsbusiness transactionstandards andresourcemodels to identify gaps anddevise countermeasuresremediate themstrategically
  • Provides day-to-day OEteaching,coaching,and mentoringtoindividuals and teamstoovercome challenges and deliverresults
  • Execute against deliverables for risk management, operations excellence and other Operations initiatives.

Basic Qualifications

  • Doctorate degreeOR
  • Masters degree in engineering, business management or life science & 2 years of experience in operations / life science industryOR
  • Bachelors degree in engineering, business management or life science & 4 years of experience in operations / life science industryOR
  • Associate degree in engineering, business management or life science & 10 years of experience in operations / life science industryOR
  • High school diploma / GED & 12 years of experience in operations / life science industry

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree (Science, Engineering, MBA) in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management or other engineering discipline & 2 years of Operational Excellence related experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries
  • 5 years of experience in Industrial Engineering and/or Operational Excellence related roles, such asLean Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt
  • Minimal 2 years experience in a highly regulated business environment
  • Leader with a demonstrated ability to develop and work in a high-performing environment
  • Experience in applying Lean Six Sigma tools such as Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Visual Controls, Root Cause Analysis, Kaizen, Mistake-Proofing, Standard Work, Gemba Walkand Daily Management Systems
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate across various parts of the organization
  • Adept in breaking down complex issues to enable prompt decision-making
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, and use sound judgment to draw conclusions
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, while delivering quality results. Handle responsibilities and priorities and tasks under minimal supervision
  • Problem solving: Uses rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions
  • Inspires change: Questions the status quo, and has a strong interest to learn
  • Work towards results: Consistently hits the goals and objectives set
