Associate Director, Digital Strategy & Technology

We are seeking an energetic leader to drive North America’s overall digital strategy and implementation roadmap in line with business objectives and priorities through innovative approach to digital capabilities, data and solutions. He/she will develop and lead the digital technology strategy in support of Ipsen’s transformation to re-invent how to interact with customers and patients.

This individual will be expected to advise commercial business units on all aspects of digital and technology opportunities, external trends, and internal digital services and capabilities. This individual will balance deep digital expertise in life sciences with a strong business acumen to drive portfolio decisions that maximize the impact of digital investments.

Main Responsibilities and Job Expectations

  • Define, co-create and drive the Digital-First (inclusive of data, analytics, and other technologies) strategy for the North America (NA) organization
  • Develop and lead digital strategy and technology capabilities, in alignment with brand objectives, by bringing forward ideas which influence future digital investments 
  • Lead digital transformation initiatives and maintain strong knowledge of emerging external trends in digital technology solutions
  • Build a scalable and compliant foundation, differentiated through intelligence and information, to deliver business objectives
  • Identify and address gaps in current digital capabilities and propose new solutions to enable high growth to ensure an optimal omni-channel customer and patient experience
  • Advise and advocate for, appropriate use of digital capabilities and best practices, ensuring the use of technologies for the benefit of business stakeholders
  • Foster a culture of innovation and agile ways of working with strategic partners by directly overseeing the execution of proof of concepts, pilots, and projects based on cutting edge digital technologies
  • Exhibits strong overall understanding of the digital space, technologies, social trends, marketing and the regulatory and legal aspects of digital marketing
  • Collaborate with the Global IT and Digital functions to ensure appropriate system architecture, standard platforms and adherence and implementation of the security / privacy strategy
  • Oversees key supplier relationships for execution of digital initiatives including contract and budget management, performance management and ad hoc issue resolution

Knowledge, abilities & experience

Education / Certifications:

  •  Bachelor’s Degree Required

Experience:

  • Minimum 10+ years of Life Sciences/Medical Device industry experience in managing digital and/or analytics programs and capabilities
  • 5+ years of digital expertise and knowledge of technology and digital landscape with knowledge of latest trends is preferred

Key Technical Competencies Required

  • Deep understanding of current and emerging digital technologies, strategic direction and technology trends in the life sciences industry
  • Experience of leading digital transformation initiatives and evaluated organization transformation digital solutions and has delivered large scale change that added value to the organization
  • Knowledge of relevant digital platforms in the US market, such as Salesforce, Marketing Cloud, Health Cloud, Veeva CRM/ProMats, Sitecore, WordPress, OneTrust, Web Services, etc. 
  • Deep understanding of modern digital channels such as websites, search engine marketing, content marketing, email, and social media marketing.
  • Excellent influencing skills, with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with key business partners, IT leadership teams, and external service providers 
  • Ability to lead without reporting authority and to achieve outcomes in a matrix, complex environment – leading through influence and deep collaboration across the franchise and enterprise
  • Prior experience in managing digital operations in a regulated environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technology concepts to facilitate discussion and deeper level of understanding across functions
  • Highly effective change agent who engages with senior stakeholders to deliver the digital programs to the organization
  • High degree of budget management experience associated with digital technology design and its adaptation
  • Strong relationships with approved vendors and with software supplier of digital services to ensure effective delivery of digital solutions
