We Want

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Scientist in automated synthetic chemistry to join our team. In this role, you will lead the synthesis of medicinal chemistry compounds for our clients. This is a client facing role, hence, you will need to have sufficient soft people skills for client management and chemistry technical skills to understand client chemistry needs. You will leverage automation and software to perform closed-loop chemical synthesis, purification and testing to accelerate drug discovery. In addition, you will work cross-functionally within Strateos' engineering and software teams to continue development of the automated chemistry platform. This entails experimental execution, troubleshooting, method development, process optimization, and evaluating and implementing new synthetic routes and technologies. Other responsibilities of the role include some operation of automation and fulfillment of customer requests.

Synthetic Chemistry – Technical Skills

  • Be well versed in state of the art synthetic chemistry and medicinal chemistry
  • Lead a team to execute and optimize synthetic routes for deployment on automated infrastructure
  • Perform multidimensional analysis of reactions and automation data. Iterate next innovations based on data
  • Expand the Strateos reaction toolbox through development of new synthetic methodologies
  • Implement process improvements of Strateos' chemical compound to biological data workflow
  • Collaborate with cross-functional groups in engineering, product and scientific applications

Contribute to Research and Development Effectiveness – People Skills

  • Effective management of client relationships with regards to chemistry synthesis requests. Set clear expectations. Monitor and report progress
  • Encourage sharing of diverse perspectives during technical discussions
  • Strong people skills and the ability to thrive in a team and goal driven environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communicator

You Have

  • A PhD degree in chemistry with 5 or more years synthetic organic chemistry/medicinal chemistry industrial experience. Chemistry CRO experience would be an advantage
  • Demonstrated commitment to individual laboratory productivity in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with chemical materials sourcing, procurement and management
  • Experience working as part of a diverse team
  • A passion for implementation and development of new automation and software technologies for chemistry and drug discovery

You may have

  • Deep interest in learning robotic automation, advanced synthetic and analytical techniques including LCMS and NMR, and scientific software development
  • Experience working with automated chemical synthesis platforms such as ChemSpeed or Zinsser including method modifications and troubleshooting of hardware
  • Experience in computer coding would be a plus
