Working in our Global Business Process and Delivery Team as a Global Process and Continuous Improvement Lead, you will be responsible for driving strategy and continuous improvement in various Financial Processes and Systems around the world.

You will work closely with Gilead executives and key business partners to understand and document business capability requirements, turn them into business cases and stewarding these business cases through governance.

You will also proactively work with Business Process Owners and SME\'s to examine overall service delivery, operational processes and performance indicators to identify continuous improvement opportunities. Then working closely with the Business and IT to implement moderate to significant continuous improvement projects and capabilities (policies, processes, measures, team/skills, and tools) to enable the business to meet its objectives and goals, while delivering efficiency and effectiveness savings for our Global Financial Solutions and Controllership organizations.

You\'ll also promote the use of Lean Six Sigma technologies and processes, as well as Global Business service excellence. You\'ll oversee project planning, risk mitigation, and validation of project outcomes.

Payroll, project costing, procure-to-pay (PTP), record-to-report, and order-to-cash are all key areas of attention for this position (OTC). The position reports to the Senior Director of Global Business Process and Service Delivery and is part of the Controllership function. The location of this position will be Raleigh, North Carolina.

Key Responsibilities:

In your role as Global Process and Continuous Improvement Lead at Gilead, you will be part of our success by:

  • Assisting the business in planning for the future; contribute the Process Excellence “perspective” as it relates to the formulation of business strategy, implementation of key business initiatives, and ongoing execution of business processes/operations.
  • Identify process synergies, develop standards and enhance policies/procedures across worldwide processes through the application of Process Excellence Models and Techniques and/or the application of Intelligent Process Automation capabilities (e.g., RPA, ML, AI etc.)
  • Sharing leading practices across regions and drive continuous improvement through an appreciation for the “Art of the Possible” and benefits from CI capabilities and metrics (e.g., what does success look like?)
  • Assisting the business in defining their requirements for Automation / Process Re-Engineering / IT solutions to business capability gaps, contribute to the development of business cases and stewarding these business cases through the Gilead governance processes
  • Assist finance, in prioritizing investment decisions; have accountability for enabling key programs and projects in line with company growth, statutory and compliance priorities.
  • Responsible for business process requirements gathering, business case development and managing the execution of initiatives from scope definition to results delivery.
  • Develop a continuous improvement culture and identify, facilitate, and drive continuous improvement programs and best practice sharing across the GFS teams and supporting functions.
  • Builds internal CI skills in the organization by training and coaching others in the use of operational excellence tools and methodologies.
  • Further enhances Gilead's business process improvement framework and methodologies
  • Be an advocate to digitalize and automate shared services processes through Intelligent Automation, Data and Analytics and other emerging technologies to optimize service offerings, create capacity, increase efficiency, quality and control of our processes.
  • Driving change by partnering with business functions and applying and promoting Gilead's business process improvement framework leveraging its process improvement tools and techniques.
  • Facilitating continuous improvement ideation and problem-solving sessions with Global Financial Solutions teams and internal stakeholders to ensure a robust idea pipeline is in place
  • Investigating, analyzing, and documenting business processes, including creation and maintenance of “As-is” and “To-Be” processes.
  • Performing gap analysis and solution adoption evaluation to identify missing or inadequate processes or procedures
  • Performing base line metric collection and measuring post-implementation key performance indicators (KPI) to enable tracking of cost and time savings
  • Identifying, prioritizing, and executing initiatives aimed at eliminating waste and improving global business service center processes
  • Ensure process changes and improvements adhere to quality, security and risk management (e.g. SOX) requirements as it relates to Business Process services capabilities.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
  • The ideal candidate will be results-driven and must thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The candidate must possess a strong drive to meet and exceed goals and be willing to take ownership of problems and make sound decisions.
  • BA or BS degree in accounting with 10 years of related experience or Master's Degree with 8 years' related experience.
  • 5+ years of experience on identifying, owning, and delivering on Finance process improvement initiatives
  • Experience of delivering large scale finance transformation programs.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification or training with demonstrated ability to recognize process improvement opportunities, apply quality optimization tools to drive improvements, identify & address related employee training needs
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills - the candidate must demonstrate the ability to partner with key internal/external customers in order to drive change and continuous improvement
  • Strong business acumen and decision-making skills
  • SAP Financial experience is preferable
  • Experience and/or understanding of Payroll systems (e.g., WorkDay, ADP) and process functionality with understanding of Project Costing and familiarity of OTC and PTP preferred
  • Be aware of the macro finance environment and possess the ability to successfully challenge and influence operational stakeholders.
  • Strong working knowledge of governance structures with practical experience in developing and implementing effective governance processes with appropriate levels of compliance
  • Proficient in PMO and portfolio, program & project management
  • Change leadership ability; creating meaning, innovation, transformation & problem solving.
  • High level of personal integrity consistent with Gilead's core values
