Job Details

Description:

Fate Therapeutics is seeking a motivated individual to join a growing Translational Science team in support of the companys iPSC derived immunotherapy clinical trials. This position will support data documentation, DNA and RNA extractions from blood and tissue, PCR, clean-up of genetic material, and handling of human samples. The successful candidate will have a bachelors degree in molecular biology, and experience with molecular laboratory techniques. This is a full-time position reporting to a Scientist of Translational Science and is located at our corporate headquarters in San Diego, CA.

Responsibilities:

  • Compile data and documentation from Fates clinical trials associated with molecular assays
  • Provide support in document review, data entry, and data analysis
  • Accession historic patient-derived genetic samples
  • Assist with general maintenance of the laboratory, equipment, and inventory
  • Homogenize human blood/tissue and perform column-based and magnetic-based extraction/clean-up of DNA and RNA
  • Quantify and check quality of extracted samples via QuBit, Nanodrop, Tapestation, and qPCR
  • Run multiplex PCR for amplicon-based sequencing

Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Biological Sciences/Molecular Biology or other related field with 1+ years of laboratory experience
  • Excellent organization skills, attention to detail, strong record keeping and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of molecular concepts including, but not limited to, PCR, ddPCR, sequencing, and expression analysis
  • Experience with pipetting
  • Experience in loading 96-well plates with precision for PCR is a plus
  • Experience working with human blood and blood products using sterile technique or similar cell culture experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with the needs of a GLP environment is a plus
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Will require working with cells and cell lines of human and/or animal origin
  • Will require working frequently in tabletop PCR hoods and occasionally cell culture hoods
  • Occasional evening work will be required
  • 100% on-site work at corporate headquarters in San Diego, CA
