Postdoctoral Fellow, Ophthalmology R&D

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Ophthalmology group at Regeneron, to explore the molecular pathways responsible for cell death and axon degeneration in retinal neural degenerative diseases like glaucoma, macular, retina degeneration. The postdoctoral fellow position is for early career scientist trainees to receive a rigorous scientific training at Regeneron under the auspices of a scientist mentor for up to four years. Fellows will be expected to conduct creative exploratory research that results in publications.

In this role, a typical day might include the following:
  • Designs and executes experiments based on protocols provided by literature, seminars, and other scientists.
  • Learns safety requirements of his/her laboratory. Attends safety training. Participates as a member of laboratory safety committees as assigned.
  • Maintains complete and accurate laboratory safety records consistent with company and legal requirements. Recognizes potential safety problems and takes action to correct them.
  • Suggests modifications to protocols or alternative protocols.
  • Introduces new ideas on how to design, execute, and analyze particular experiments.
  • Effectively operates a range of laboratory instrumentation.
  • Reads and begins to critically evaluate the literature in a specialized scientific field.

  • You have excellent mastery of the technical skills of the field and a knowledge of proper controls
  • You have an ability to develop a research strategy, and evidence of a creative and critical approach to scientific problem solving.
  • You are capable of organizing efforts, correcting the plan based upon results and eventually reporting the results to management either verbally or in writing.
  • You can manage your time effectively.

To be considered for this role you must possess a doctoral degree in a relevant subject area and be looking for your first postdoctoral training.
