Job Title:  Associate Director, Operations

Purpose:

You will be part of a dynamic function that manages operational strategy and tactics for the Data & Statistical Sciences organization and will be a valued, key partner for the leadership team.  The Associate Director, Operations is empowered to assist in development and lead the execution of strategy for DSS functional groups through collaboration and partnership with the Operations Director, organizational leaders, and other members of the team.  As a member of the operations function you ensure that the organization runs seamlessly by actively engaging with members of the statistics, programming, and data sciences teams as well as cross-functional business partners such as purchasing, finance, IT, and facilities.  You are expected to demonstrate leadership by proactively identifying, managing, and implementing ideas for improvement.    

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with Plan, LRP and capital finance deliverables.  Collaborates with the Director to forecast, construct and manage budget and implications of alternative development scenarios.
  • Ensure maximum utilization of resources through modification, implementation, and monitoring of resource models.  Analyze models versus actual capacity to identify potential shortfalls or surpluses and provide solutions to management.
  • Assist functional groups with the development of strategic sourcing plans, evaluation of requests for proposal, contract negotiation and deal modeling for external resources.
  • Provide leadership and develop strategic and tactical recommendations to functional areas to ensure they operate within the planned budget.  This includes providing guidance and direction in the management of internal and external resources.
  • Own the process and execution of monthly external LBE production and reporting.
  • Drive operational efficiency by creating, implementing, and monitoring business metrics and providing business alternatives.
  • Lead and manage multiple group projects and/or cross-functional initiatives to achieve organization objectives.
  • Lead the development of organizational communication and implementation across the various platforms available. 
  • Lead organization initiatives to increase the sense of community and promote interaction between coworkers.
  • May be responsible for overseeing operational activities or projects managed by others within the group.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor/Master of Science (BSc/MSc) in Science or Business-related Field, or equivalent;
    • BSc with 10+ yrs
    • MSc with 8+ yrs
    • PhD with 6+ yrs
    • MBA degree preferred

Required

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry required with a focus in drug development.
  • Experience with team leadership and/or project management.
  • Experience in budget management and planning.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills, technical writing, data analysis and critical thinking.

Preferred

  • Advanced knowledge with Excel, Sharepoint & SAP preferred.
