This position is responsible to effectively lead an operational area(s) of a Logistics Center of approximately 5 to 30 colleagues, managing the efficient flow of goods, services and information between points of origin through order delivery to meet customer and business requirements.

  • Ensures that customer service and time objectives are achieved within existing financial constraints in order to meet marketing, financial and business objectives.

  • Ensures the execution and continuous improvement of standard logistics processes, such as replenishment, data interchange, demand management electronic data systems administration and related functions. 

  • Complies with and ensures compliance with Pfizer, local, state and federal regulations related to Quality, EHS, Security, Dangerous Goods, Transportation, etc. (FDA, DEA, DOT, OSHA, EPA, etc.).

  • May supervise colleagues having hazardous waste job functions.  May be responsible for signing hazardous waste manifests.

  • Builds effective relationships with customers through logistics initiatives, integrates learnings from customers, competitors, operating entities, transportation, customer service, industry and professional groups to continuously improve the competitive position.

  • Responsibilities may include occasional special project work and other duties as assigned by the Site Leadership and Americas Logistics Leadership team.

  • Ensures to develop colleagues to achieve their maximum potential.

  • Comply with Pfizer’s GSCPM Conveyance Product Care Requirements (CPCR) standards. 

  • May have management and oversight of multiple departments

Area Specific Responsibilities:

Receiving

  • The responsibility includes managing and training others in relation to inbound freight.

  • Ensure that daily priority receipts as communicated by Market Deployment Team are completed as required.

  • Role includes working with carrier contacts as necessary to insure efficient flow of Small Package, LTL and TL freight into the Memphis Logistics Center.

  • Comply with Pfizer’s GSCPM Conveyance Product Care Requirements (CPCR) standards. Managing the day-to-day business of receiving operations supporting all order fulfillments for the Exports, Starters, Trade, Cold Chain, DEA and Greenstone picking operations at the Memphis Logistics Center.

Shipping

  • Maintain relationships and expectations with carriers and transportation management

  • Monitor carrier performance via relevant metrics and lead improvement initiatives

  • Prepare and maintain shipping schedules for normal and holiday shipping activities

  • Maintain Automated Export Systems (AES) system access as required

Order Fulfillment – Trade / Greenstone / Starters / Specialty – Cold Chain

  • Drive empowerment, engagement and accountability

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Operations Management, Engineering, Business or related field.

  • Minimum of five years progressive experience with logistics

  • Manager Level, Minimum of 5 years’ experience in biopharmaceutical logistics.

  • Strong PC skills required (MS Office Suite, especially Excel, Teams and MS Project).

  • Proven ability to work in a complex matrix organization with demonstrated knowledge of logistics and/or transportations services. 

  • Incumbent must pose strong technical/analytical skills and good business sense, strong team work orientation required. Ability to work effectively in an environment of constant change. 

  • Motivated individual with strong self-directed capabilities as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Knowledge of logistics systems warehousing, order-fulfillment, customer services, project management practices and integrated supply chain management required.

  • Knowledge of the SAP software and the S&D or WMS module is a big plus. Demonstrated ability to function in an environment of constant change and competing priorities.

  • Knowledge of Operational Excellence methodologies/tools. Lean/Six Sigma certified is a plus.

  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements for Pharmaceutical/Biological manufacturing (FDA, DEA and other regulatory industries agencies) preferred.

  • Demonstrated track record of project management, organizational skills and attention to details.

  • Strategic thinking and influencing ability at site wide level and across sites/network.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex issues and accomplishments into language and messaging of general interest.

  • Passion for creation of an engaged and change-agile culture.

  • Commitment to quality and customer service.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Long hours spent standing and walking on concrete on the Warehouse floor or sitting are required.   Some lifting of packages of up to 40 lbs. may be required. Ability to analyze data, prioritize tasks, and be decisive in a fast pace environment.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

Sometimes additional hours are required as the business volume dictates. These may include evenings and weekends on occasion. Adhere to safe work practices, procedures, and programs.
