ROLE SUMMARY

The Associate Director R&D Compliance Operations will report to Director, R&D Compliance Operations in the Office of the WRDM President. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic team focused on the design, implementation, and oversight of operations and infrastructure that enable Pfizer R&D colleagues to share ideas and collaborate with the external healthcare & scientific community in accordance with Pfizer policy and applicable laws and regulations.

The individual in this role will have a strong understanding of healthcare compliance and continuous improvement principles and will be accountable for developing executable plans with a 6-12 month planning horizon to increase operational efficiency, reduce cost, track and report productivity, and ensure implementation of operational processes in support of functional strategies. This role will be focused on the processes by which R&D colleagues engage and interact with external scientific experts and other partners, including healthcare professionals (HCPs), patients, and research institutions.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include design, implementation, continuous enhancement, and support of simple and well-controlled process and procedures, training development and delivery, oversight of business-side support, and leading remediation efforts for identified issues. This position will also lead the development of functional SOPs to ensure consistency and business continuity within the compliance operations team.

  • Design processes to ensure R&D colleague needs are met while ensuring consistency and compliance

  • Establish best practices for how R&D colleagues engage and interact with external experts and other partners

  • Leads training and communications planning, execution, and delivery; serves as subject matter expert resource for R&D colleagues and other stakeholders

  • Partner with key stakeholders to lead implementation team(s) within and across functional lines to ensure for optimal implementation of process and procedures

  • Evaluate, recommend, design, and implement innovative processes and methodologies; implements operational solutions and strategies that ensure our systems effectively support our processes and deliver optimal value to Pfizer

  • Manages the enhancement and ongoing maintenance of divisional policies, procedures, and systems

  • Establishes oversight functionality to proactively identify risk and facilitates remedial action; communicates executive corrective action plans when issues are identified

  • Maintains a thorough and sophisticated knowledge of existing and upcoming laws and industry guidelines or trends and effectively disseminates internally

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • At least 5-7 years’ of applicable experience in Compliance/Operations and Pharma

  • Experience with policies and processes supporting compliance with Anti-Kickback and Bribery statutes

  • Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple issues/projects simultaneously and work well under pressure

  • Agile learner who can adapt to a dynamic environment and nimbly shift priorities as necessary

  • Demonstrated skills for guiding process improvements and new process implementation/change management

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation capabilities, interpersonal skills and conflict resolution

  • Ability to work within a matrixed global organization and develop a strong, effective network of colleagues

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • JD or MBA

  • Experience in healthcare compliance policy and training development; compliance operations experience.

  • Pharmaceutical industry experience and familiarity with the Pfizer organization.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

Travel to various Pfizer sites as needed.
