What You Will AchieveAs part of the Comparative Medicine team, you will collaborate with Pfizer Research Unit scientists and Investigative partners to develop and execute animal models of disease and provide non-invasive imaging support to advance the WRD portfolio.
It is your hard work along with innovative ideas and focus that will help in making Pfizer ready to achieve new milestones and help patients across the globe.
How You Will Achieve It- Collaborate with Pfizer Research Unit scientists and Investigative Partners to develop and execute animal models of disease.
- Perform in vivo and other scientific studies utilizing a variety of cutting-edge techniques and technologies in support of the Pfizer therapeutic portfolio.
- Ensure flawless animal care and welfare in conducting research studies through study design and implementation and championing the “3 Rs” principles.
- Work with research project teams to define study needs and to report animal and study results.
- Contribute to reports, posters, talks, and other project communications and manuscripts.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Participate in group, departmental, and Pfizer teams for improving process or other organizational endeavors.
- BS/BA degree required
- 3-4 years of related experience
- Experience working with animal models of human diseases
- Ability to demonstrate level of technical skills and abilities, in particular computer skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience working in a pharmaceutical setting
- Familiarity with one or several biomedical imaging modalities such as echocardiography, elastography, micro-CT, optical imaging (IVIS FMT,) and other methods.
Physical/Mental Requirements
- Must be able to wear standard PPE (lab coat/gloves/safety shoes/glasses/etc).
Non-Standard Work Schedule, Travel, Or Environment Requirements
- This is an Essential Personnel role: Essential Personnel are defined as the staff that are required to report to their designated work location, to ensure the operation of essential functions or departments during an emergency, as determined by Pfizer, or when the business has suspended operations. There are some individuals who may be required to perform essential services remotely and those individuals will be identified in advance and notified by their supervisors, but in most cases Essential Personnel are required to be on-site during an emergency or suspension of operations.
- May need to travel to Groton CT, a couple of times per year for study support or meetings.
- May be required to work under one of the following: The United States Department of Agriculture Animal Welfare Act and associated Regulations and Standards, the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, Good Laboratory Practices, Public Health Service Policy and/or AAALAC accreditation standards.
