Job Summary:

The Regional Sales Director provides leadership and strategic direction to a team of Regional Business Managers in order to achieve performance objectives for the assigned region. This is accomplished through effective coaching, mentoring of the team, utilization of resources and exemplary collaboration with adjacent disciplines, divisions, and/or enabling functions within Bionano and external business partners.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Interviewing, selecting, and training employees
  • Directing and/or apportioning the work of employees
  • Appraising employees’ productivity and efficiency for the purpose of recommending promotions or other changes in status
  • Handling employee complaints and grievances
  • Disciplining employees

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruiting, hiring, and training Regional Business Managers (RBMs)
  • Achieving annual and regional sales goals
  • Coaching RBMs in all aspects of job performance and ensuring training and development of RBMs in their region
  • Establishing personal and regional goals and strategies
  • Responsible for all aspects of performance development and management within the region
  • Participating in development and implementation of global sales strategy and associated tactics
  • Working on pre-, peri-, and post-launch special project teams, as identified
  • Effective budget and resource management
  • Planning and executing Regional Sales Meetings
  • Metric analysis to determine regional trends and performance, and identify innovative, strategic opportunities to continuously improve

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • 5 years sales management experience
  • 5 – 10 years specialty sales experience
  • Proven track record of consistent high performance
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team towards meeting and exceeding objectives
  • Enterprise leader, adept at planning and organization, analytics, decision making and problem-solving skills
  • High degree of organizational and business acumen
  • Exemplary leadership and coaching skills
  • Ability to influence in a heavily matrixed environment of continuous growth and evolution
  • Exemplary strategic planning and analytical skills
  • Experience with strategic and systematic approach to selling and sales procedures
  • Significant travel required
  • Must have a valid driver’s license to be considered

 

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

  • Breadth of experiences across other commercial areas (marketing, market access, patient services, advocacy, etc.) is advantageous, but not required
  • Launch experience is advantageous, but not required

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • BS/BA Required (or equivalent years of relevant experience)
  • MBA Preferred

 

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Sit and stand for prolonged periods;
  • Repeating motions that may include the hands, wrists and/or fingers;
  • Use of hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms;
  • Stand and/or move about the office or in various environments (including tight and confined spaces), or from one worksite to another;
  • Specific visual abilities, including close vision and ability to adjust focus, read, review and assess the accuracy and thoroughness of the work assigned;
  • Verbal abilities require communicating with others to exchange information;
  • Occasionally adjusting or moving objects up to 20 pounds in all directions;
  • Work environment involving low/high temperatures; hazardous conditions, low ventilation, noisy environments.
