Senior Engineer, CMOS Image Sensor Metrology

Pacific Biosciences is looking for a talented, experienced individual to join SMRT Cell Design and Metrology. The candidate will engage with external partners to ensure the quality of our sensor metrology. The candidate will help outline the sensor metrology as well as offer technical solutions to metrology challenges. The engineer will be part of cross-functional teams and will interface with a wide range of disciplines, such as chemistry, instrumentation engineering, process development.


  • Work with external partners to develop and follow up on CMOS Image Sensor probe and e-test data to support development and manufacturing needs
  • Analyze and track sensor metrology data
  • Scale up the metrology pipeline and ensure that quality, throughput and reliability goals are met
  • Work closely with manufacturing, process development and other groups to identify and address metrology needs
  • Manage documentation requirements and transfer of metrology to manufacturing
  • In charge of sensor-related failure analysis and in-house testing


Position Requirements:



  • PhD in a technical field or Master's degree and 3+ years' experience in industry
  • Experience with design, test and manufacture of CMOS imaging sensors
  • Familiarity with image sensor device physics and image sensor electronics
  • Experience working with third party vendors
  • Hands-on experience with optics and/or sensors is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with data analysis and yield analysis
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills to establish and maintain close and effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Experience with design and fabrication of CMOS probe cards or related technology is a plus
