The Senior Director, IT Risk & Controls is responsible for leading the Risk & Controls area with oversight of IT Risk Management, Disaster Recovery, and IT SOX Controls and Governance.

Specific Responsibilities and Skills
  • Build the IT Risk Management Framework and implement a sustainable process for identifying IT Risk, performing risk assessments, recommending and consulting on risk mitigation plans, and monitoring and reporting on remediation status
  • Liaison with the Company's Internal Audit team to support IT Internal Audits (operational and SOX)
  • Evaluate and communicate IT Risk insights for the Company's Enterprise Risk Management Program
  • Oversee the Company's Disaster Recovery program to ensure that the program is robust and effective in protecting Gilead's systems in the event of a disaster
  • Oversee the IT SOX program team to ensure that the scope and design of Internal Controls over Financial reporting (ICFR) specific to IT systems is in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) while supporting an efficient and effective process
  • Collaborate with several cross functional stakeholders, primarily Business Process Owners, the Controllership (SOX PMO), Business Continuity Planning, External Auditors and System Owners in ensuring that the IT Risk Programs (IT Risk, DR, SOX, and operational audits) are operating effectively and efficiently
  • Oversee and lead a dynamic team of Gilead professionals and outsourced service providers

Basic Qualifications

Associates Degree and Sixteen Years Experience OR Bachelor's Degree and Fourteen Years' Experience OR Masters' Degree and Twelve Years' Experience OR PhD and Twelve Years' Experience

Knowledge, Experience and Skills
  • +15 years' experience in Internal Audit, External Audit, Risk Management, and/or SOX oversight related roles
  • CISA, CPA, or equivalent required
  • FAIR certification desired
  • Pharmaceutical Industry experience desired
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SOX requirements and expert knowledge and understanding of IT general computer controls (ITGCs)
  • Experience with leading or assisting with the coordination of internal and external audits (e.g., SOX IT or quality system audits)
  • Experience performing qualitative and quantitative risk assessments and scoping activities
  • Experience in leading process improvements
  • Experience managing 3rd party service providers
  • Familiar with GxP processes
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to independently evaluate and develop approaches to complex problems
  • Highly organized, results-oriented and attentive to details
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, facilitation and diplomacy skills
  • Eager to learn and implement change
