Strategic Planning & Operations Manager


What you will do

Lets do this. Lets change the world. In this role you will be responsible for leading and handling business and operational processes across the Global Development Therapeutic areas and clinical capabilities functions. You will work with SP&O team and key partners to support, and project lead business operational areas such as budget, contracting, resource management, status reporting, governance meeting support and process improvements projects. This role will be interacting with various levels of management and with cross functional business partners.

  • Developing collaborations with partners and SP&O team to support and proactively respond to business needs including progress of functional goals and other functional process improvements.

  • Partnering with the Development SP&O team to explore alignments in cross-functional processes and find innovative solutions to drive efficiencies.

  • Collaborating with SP&O Sr Manager/Director to support organization wide initiatives including crafting and running organizational communication and staff engagement plans.

  • Establishing fit for purpose expense management strategies to support planning, tracking and reporting in Anaplan. Work closely with Finance partners to ensure appropriate budgeting process.

  • Ensuring adherence to corporate training and compliance requirements.

  • Providing staff operations support including headcount management, open headcount/requisition tracking and reconciliations to ensure the best resource allocation aligned with the organizations strategic direction.

  • Organizations meeting management including functional staff meetings, Development governance meetings and cross-functional collaborations.

  • Mentor junior staff and may include line management

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree, specialized training, or equivalent work experience

  • Associate degree and 4 years of management or Leadership experience

Minimum Requirement:

  • Strong written, verbal skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills for effective relationship building

  • Proven insight and proactive problem solving through creative and pragmatic solutions, results oriented, goal driven and sense of accountability

  • Strong facilitation, influencing, and negotiation skills particularly in a cross-functional environment

  • Ability to organize, interpret, communicate information efficiently.

  • Proficient in Project Management tools (e.g. MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, MS Teams, SharePoint)

  • Ability to interface effectively with peers and higher levels.

  • Understands financial and administrative aspects of the business and is able to communicate findings clearly

  • Demonstrates willingness to put in extra effort when necessary to pursue tasks to conclusion, proactive, takes initiative

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary and matrixed environment and prioritize deliverables independently

  • Clearly conveys and receives information and ideas through a variety of media, individuals or groups in a manner that engages the listener, helps them understand and retain the message and invites response and feedback

Preferred Requirements:

  • SharePoint design experience and understanding of project management methodologies, tools and processes

  • Good understanding of drug development processes and Biopharmaceutical experience

  • Project management certification is highly desirable

  • Working understanding of professional services suppliers, and outsourcing business models and tools

  • Budget and project management experience preferred

  • Quick learner, proactive, creative & continuous innovation mentality
