The Finance Shared Services organization was established as one of the key new operating models for AbbVie to provide accurate financial accounting and reporting for PCYC entities.  The Accounting Lead Supervisor will work together with Commercial Finance, the Accounting COE, the BPO, and others to ensure compliance with company accounting and operational guidelines, as well as US GAAP .  This position will report into the Regional Accounting Manager and have two direct reports.

  • Manage PCYC accounting interaction with BPO (IBM Costa Rica - Shared Services)
  • Supervise two Accounting Leads
  • Review changes to chart of accounts and evaluate impact
  • Review key account reconciliations and drive improvement action plans
  • Manage and coordinate the financial close process for US GAAP and ensure compliance with accounting standards and policies
  • Support preparation of Balance Sheet reviews and related analysis
  • Support the preparation of Standard Operating Procedures & Flow Charts for Affiliate
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of financial internal controls
  • Manage and review financial and accounting analysis involving complex transactions including but not limited to fixed asset activity, and cost allocations
  • Research and resolve discrepancies and technical accounting issues as necessary
  • Propose accounting treatment in line with Corporate policies for complex transactions
  • Support variance analysis between actuals and prior month establishing partnership with FP&A area and affiliate
  • Propose and implement initiatives aimed to improve efficiency and quality of processes

  • MS Office with strong Excel skills in data compilation and aggregation (i.e. pivot tables, Vlookup and macros)

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA a plus
  • 8 + years of progressive finance experience in Accounting/Controllership
  • Experience with SAP required
  • Pharma experience is desirable, but not mandatory
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills
  • Individual must be self-motivated with great follow-up skills and be able to work independently
  • Prior supervisory skills are a plus
  • Ability to integrate perspectives with strong sense of ownership and focus on results
  • Project management and change management experience
