Associate Director - HIV Opinion Leader Marketing

We have the following exciting opportunity in Foster City, CA: Associate Director, HIV Opinion Leader Marketing

Specific Responsibilities

The Associate Director will be responsible for supporting Opinion Leader Programming for the US HIV Marketing team across both Treatment and Prevention.

The Associate Director will be a key contributor on the OLP Marketing team responsible for supporting the $13B HIV franchise for Treatment and Prevention. They will support advisory boards, speaker bureau and content development, as well as contribute to other opinion leader activities including OL delivered marketing content and KOL engagement. They will be responsible for management of key agency partnerships. The Associate Director partner closely across marketing functions within the HIV business unit (HIV Treatment, Prevention and Franchise) along with various cross functional stakeholders (Legal, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Marketing Operations and the Field) and external vendors to implement strategy and tactics aligned to established business goals and objectives.

Essential Duties and Job Functions
  • Leads the HIV prevention speaker bureau and development of non-speaker bureau OL delivered content
    • Develops branded and unbranded content for speaker decks
    • Coordinates speaker bureau training and communications
  • Supports advisory boards as well as OL engagement strategy
  • Monitors the complete HIV Landscape seeking out key insights and areas of opportunity to support ongoing marketing efforts
  • Collaborates closely with HIV Treatment and Prevention teams to ensure broad communication of advisor insights and alignment on marketing direction and coordinated efforts for the success of the full HIV Business Unit
  • Works cross functionally to ensure scientifically accurate and compelling presentations
  • Manages and provides direction to key agency partners to deliver on key strategic and tactical initiatives
  • Manages promotional budget for assigned efforts
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant laws, regulations and policies

  • High performing marketer with the ability to set a vision and collaborate across a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders from a variety of disciplines, levels and cultures.
  • Strategic thinker with an innovative mindset with a track record of making recommendations, while incorporating a diverse set of stakeholder input and feedback
  • Strong problem solving and entrepreneurial thinking and confident in working within a fast paced and dynamic environment
  • Adept at forming and maintaining a collaborative work environment within cross functional teams
  • Track record of successful pharma/ biotech marketing in specialty categories
  • Clear demonstrated understanding of the pharmaceutical regulatory requirements and impact on developing marketing materials
  • Exceptionally strong interpersonal, verbal communication (listens carefully to others points-of-view, adapts style and content based on audience), and writing skills, including the ability to simplify complex scientific topics through storytelling

Job Description
  • Proven project management skills including timeline and budget management, planning, prioritization, objective setting, meeting management, plan execution and performance management
  • Helps analyze moderately complex problems and situations, provides logical recommendations and leads any required action planning
  • Proven ability to work well as part of a team
  • Must be comfortable with sensitive topics within HIV market
  • Ability to travel up to 30%, domestically and once safe to do so to conferences, team meetings and client meetings/events

Specific Education and Experience Requirements
  • 10 years of experience in Marketing or Communications within Pharma/Biotech with a BA/BS OR 8 years of experience in Marketing or Communications within Pharma/Biotech with a MA/MS OR 2 years of experience in Marketing or Communication within Pharma/Biotech with a PhD
  • 5 + years of brand development and marketing preferred
  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA in marketing or related fields preferred
  • Proven track record of marketing fundamentals, including advisory boards, brand plan development and execution, strategy and sales and commercial programs
  • HIV Therapeutic Area knowledge strongly preferred
