The Diagnostics team is advancing our CRISPR-based DETECTR™ platform to address unmet needs across the continuum of testing. From laboratories to the home, our mission is to democratize diagnostics with CRISPR.
OPPORTUNITY
Mammoth is seeking a Senior Scientist, CRISPR Dx to drive development of new DETECTR™ assays. The ideal candidate will have experience with a range of genomic, molecular and biochemical techniques applied to in vitro assay development. Further, the candidate will be comfortable working as part of a team, be highly motivated, and display excellent time management skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Explore and innovate novel technologies from ideation to product development
- Conduct proof of concept and feasibility of novel approaches to develop and improve CRISPR diagnostic assays
- Conduct technical experiments for sample processing, nucleic acid amplification, and related assays to develop sample-to-answer CRISPR diagnostic assays
- Perform data analysis of experiments and generate summaries for group meetings
- Document information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books
- Resolve problems by examining and evaluating data and selecting corrective steps
- Complete projects by assisting project team and attending and participating in group and project meetings
- Stay current in the field by participating in educational opportunities and reading relevant publications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, genomics or associated field
- Postdoc plus 3 years or 5 years of industry experience
- Expertise in genomics and molecular biology, including principles of nucleic acid chemistry, primer design, technologies for gene target amplification using isothermal amplification methods and guide RNA design
- Strong background in assay innovation, optimization and development
- Experience with non-commercial nucleic acid extraction methods
- Working knowledge of design of experiments methodologies
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with in vitro diagnostics development
- Experience working with CRISPR nucleases
- Experience evaluating clinical samples with in vitro diagnostics
- Experience in Python, JMP, and/or other data analysis tools
- Exceptional skills in communication, presentation, data analysis, and interpretation
- Highly motivated and detail-oriented with the ability to think creatively towards efficient problem solving
