Process Development Post Doctoral Fellow


What you will do

Lets do this. Lets change the world. In this dynamic role you will support synthetic and hybrid modality process development to advance the Amgen pipeline as part of the Pivotal and Commercial Synthetics Process Development organization. Responsibilities include:

  • Develops technology to manufacture oligonucleotide drug candidates in a scalable, cost-effective, efficient, and safe manner
  • Champions innovative applications of oligonucleotide chemistry, synthetic/conjugation chemistry, purification technologies, process analytical technologies (PAT) and data analysis to pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Collaborates with analytical chemists, therapeutic discovery, and purification technology teams to evaluate/develop new oligonucleotide technologies to advance Amgens synthetic portfolio
  • Provides contributions to drug substance development teams (e.g., product and process development teams) by providing technical updates, documentation, data interpretation, technical recommendations, etc.
  • Serves as a technical specialist and keeps current in oligonucleotide chemistry, organic chemistry and applications of process technology in pharmaceutical development including literature and technology development
  • Improves the technical or scientific capabilities of the department and works with team members to resolve scientific/technical issues
  • Works on documentation to support IP filings, publications, and presentations on technical developments
  • Delivers processes amenable to current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) operations.

Basic Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree or Doctorate degree by December 2021
Preferred Qualifications.
  • Doctorate degree in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Chemical Biology or Synthetic Chemistry
  • Scientific accomplishments in the field of organic chemistry, conjugation chemistry and/or oligonucleotide chemistry
  • Works successfully in a multi-disciplinary team of chemists, analysts, purification scientists, and engineers
  • Ability to champion new technologies and their applications to oligonucleotide-based therapies
  • Experience with oligonucleotide synthesis/conjugation methods and instrumentation
  • Experience with solid phase synthesis, solution phase synthesis, and/or biocatalytic methods
  • Experience with analytical and purification instrumentation used for oligonucleotide and hybrid modality synthesis
  • Familiarity with the use of design of experiments (DoE) and Process Analytical Technology (PAT) techniques
  • Familiarity with laboratory automation, data analysis and visualization techniques and tools
  • Highly motivated individual, who takes initiative and has strong interpersonal, presentation, written and verbal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to efficiently work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Familiarity with Environmental Health and Safety expectations for chemical laboratories
  • Knowledge of basic office and chemistry software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ChemDraw, SciFinder, and electronic laboratory notebooks.
