We are currently hiring for a business development specialist (internally known as commercial development specialist). The business development specialist will support identification of new business opportunities and acquisition of new business from potential and existing customers through industry research, prospecting, and client interactions. They will support overall sales productivity improvement efforts via supporting the implementation of best practices, supporting the improvement of existing processes, ensuring the integrity of various sales databases, and ensuring the accurate analysis and reporting of data to leadership.

As a business development specialist, you are a key link between our customers and the FDB team, and will typically be our customer's first point of contact at FDB. You have the ability to foster collaborative relationships with both customers and key internal stakeholders, are a skilled communicator, and have the ability to quickly get up to speed with our various technologies. About the Role

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the Commercial Development team in achieving departmental and company objectives
  • Support the Commercial Development team by obtaining new or follow up business from prospective and existing customers.
    • Prospect for new business primarily in the US, and potentially in other territories as required
    • Qualify leads within new or existing companies who would benefit from FDB's services. This activity includes execution of CDA's and acting as the FDB lead in early stage discussions with clients.
    • Support the team as requested in establishing contact with new customers through persistent, professional, and proactive contact via e-mail, phone, and other marketing efforts
    • Support the team as required during on-site and off-site client visits
    • Supports the management and completion of customer Request for Information (RFI) documents in collaboration with commercial development managers and company SME's
  • Support FDB marketing and promotional efforts
    • Contact new and existing customers as requested regarding upcoming events which FDB plans to participate in
    • Assist with design, planning, and execution of marketing campaigns for FDB services
    • Attend conferences and regional professional networking events as needed
  • Timely update/maintain
    • Salesforce database, Tier Boards, and other databases as requested
  • Create quarterly reports in relation to above information, and create periodic reports as requested regarding key changes of new and existing customers.
  • Collaborate with and maintain effective cross-functional working relationships with sales, technical support, strategic business development, marketing, program management teams, alliance management, and other stakeholders
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify and implement better ways of working and areas for process improvements, where appropriate
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure understanding and adherence to business processes, utilization & accuracy of sales databases such as Salesforce, and accuracy of analysis & reporting
  • Maintain a professional and positive client relationship during the sales cycle
  • Maintain knowledge of industry standards
  • Participate in sales team meetings and other regular company meetings as requested
  • Lead meetings or projects as requested by and agreed with commercial development managers

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or science.
  • Minimum four years of experience in biologics drug development and/or contract manufacturing/testing organization, or equivalent experience.
  • At least one year in business/commercial development, or equivalent experience, desired.
  • Demonstrates at least a basic understanding of the biopharmaceutical industry and service selling, with an ability and attitude to learn more advanced topics and concepts
  • Highly driven & commercially minded individual who demonstrates strong self-motivation and a positive attitude
  • Very high interpersonal skills, capable of building positive long lasting client relationships, with good presentation skills
  • Able to build and maintain effective and credible relationships with key stakeholders and across all areas of the business
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an environment that requires teamwork and the entrepreneurial mentality of “doing whatever it takes to get the job done.”
  • Ability to stay calm and collected under pressure, and resilient in the face of challenges or set backs
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
