In this vital role the Executive Director, Contracts & Pricing Strategy, Inflammation, is a key member of both the U.S. Value & Access (USV&A) organization and the Value, Contracts & Pricing Strategy and Execution leadership team. The Executive Director will be accountable for developing and executing the payer and provider contract and pricing strategies for Amgens inflammation franchise including Enbrel, Otezla, future inflammation biosimilars, and the launch of Tezepelumab.

This individual is accountable for leading, recruiting, and developing a high-performing team to achieve the Inflammation payer/provider coverage and net price goals to ensure patient access to Amgen products. The individual will coach and empower their teams to develop a comprehensive coverage and net price plan for each of Amgens inflammation products including core pricing and coverage assumptions and strategies, payor and provider contract platforms, and develop resources to support the market access team in payer and provider execution. This individual will also closely work with business unit Brand Leads/General Managers to align on short-and-long term contract & pricing goals including making strategic tradeoffs in balancing coverage vs gross-to-net.

To ensure strategic and executional alignment, this individual will play a lead role with key cross-functional stakeholders including Brand, Finance, Medical, Patient Access, Value Marketing, Global Health Economics (GHE), Trade, Policy, and Legal. In addition, this individual will support the Market Access leadership team in major payer customer engagements.

Responsibilities

  • In partnership with Brand and Finance teams, provide key forecasted coverage and pricing assumptions into quarterly Latest Estimate Discount Rate (LEDR), Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR), and Long-Range Scenario (LRS) planning including appropriate messaging for executive leadership communications

  • Conduct meetings to ensure alignment in LRS strategy and execution of the plan with cross-functional teams including Brand, Market Access, Value Marketing, GHE, Patient Access, Medical, Trade, and Policy

  • Proactive support with bi-annual strategic LRS/brand planning and quarterly business reviews

  • Collaborate with Patient Access and brand teams to maintain/develop patient support programs in real-time for pull-through opportunities

  • Partner with Value Marketing team to create Inflammation-specific value strategy, messaging, tools for Market Access Team and data generation plan in alignment with brand strategy

  • Work with Value Marketing and training to develop Market Access Team semester plan of action, semester meeting content/training and reimbursement goals

  • Collaborate with brand teams and Inflammation sales team to develop semester meeting content related to payer strategy and environment

  • For sales teams and Market Access Team, triage Contract & Pricing related questions and issues and ensures that items are addressed including training where needed

  • Budget management

Basic Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree & 6 years of marketing, sales management and/or payer experience, OR

  • Masters degree & 10 years of marketing, sales management and/or payer experience, OR

  • Bachelors degree & 12 years of marketing, sales management and/or payer experience AND

  • 6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications

  • Management experience leading large groups and delivering results

  • Experience developing strategies to optimize payer and provider coverage and patient access within highly competitive markets

  • Ability to conduct qualitative and quantitative pricing studies to formulate price policy and contracting strategy recommendations

  • Prior experience in the Inflammation therapeutic area

  • Develop value messages and align with evidence to demonstrate and communicate product value to payers

  • Experience conducting situation analysis of external pricing and reimbursement environment and synthesizing relevant information to develop strategic plans

  • US pricing and access experience for injectable therapies through variety of channels

  • Strategic planning and/or experience in product commercialization

  • Experience with US pricing and access payer environment desirable

  • Direct payer experience and/or health policy experience desirable

  • Experience leading crossfunctional teams in a matrix environment; managing projects involving multiple functions and shared accountabilities

  • Demonstrated creativity in addressing strategic challenges; displays high intellectual curiosity and passion for learning; thinks outofthebox; asks the right questions; seeks expert opinions and insights; applies innovative ideas and takes measured risks

  • Works effectively in a team, builds alignment around key objectives and exercises influence at all levels

  • Develops and delivers concise, relevant and wellsupported briefings and adapts presentation style with knowledge, credibility and maturity to influence senior management
