We seek a highly talented and motivated leader to drive Adcentrx Therapeutics ground-breaking efforts in cancer biotherapeutics drug development. The candidate will join a new team of researchers in San Diego, with the goal of developing novel targeted therapeutics that can make a difference in the life of cancer patients.

The Director/Senior Director of Discovery Research will report to the Head of Research and will work closely with members of the research team, as well as the development team. It is expected that the individual will shape discovery research projects, build collaborations to enhance the scope and impact of the work of the team, and participate in the strategic planning related to Adcentrx product pipeline Discovery and progression to the clinic.

The candidate will be part of a cross-functional team in a highly collaborative and dynamic research environment working closely on a shared mission.


• Develop and leads innovative scientific strategies in biotherapeutic oncology discovery

• Facilitate discovery and validation of drug candidate for cancer therapeutics

• Provides operational leadership for the planning and execution of discovery projects, including cell biology, pharmacology, safety and toxicology

• Prioritize projects and resources for projects from early discovery to progression to the clinic, ensuring success within timelines

• Play a leading role in evaluating new discoveries and external product opportunities

• Cultivate open and collaborative culture

• Foster a strong culture of innovation and creativity, while ensuring effective project pipeline progression

• Advise project teams and collaborate cross-functionally


• PhD degree in Cell Biology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, or similar with at least 8 years' experience in an industry setting and at least 5 years of management experience

• Demonstrated record in driving scientific and technical innovations

• Demonstrated record of leading discovery pipeline projects through preclinical validation and progression of drug candidates into the clinic

• Strong background in oncology drug discovery

• Experience in supporting IND submissions

• Fluent in basic cellular and molecular assays as well as pharmacology and toxicology evaluation

• Be able to distill complex issues and clearly articulate solutions

• Ability to perform successfully in a fast-paced cross-functional environment

• Ability to collaborate, lead, influence and motivate others

• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
