ABOUT THE POSITION:

Location: Large U.S. Metropolitan Area

This sales management role will hire, mentor, coach, co-travel and lead a small team of ophthalmic territory managers located across the United States focused on two rare ophthalmic disease conditions. This individual must have a passion for building and leading high performing teams that deliver exceptional results. Furthermore, this role will require experience in coaching and presenting detailed, complex scientific content in a clear and compelling fashion, along with navigating academic/teaching institutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY DELIVERABLES:
  • Hire, onboard and ongoing management, and coaching of dedicated field force
  • Coach and lead a sales team of rare eye disease representatives through co-traveling, evaluating based on established KPIs
  • Works closely with Sales Operations, Marketing and Market Access
  • Responsible for the understanding and utilization of sales reports, CRM and TRx/financial forecasts
  • Responsible for managing expense budgets
  • Responsible for meeting quarterly and yearly sales goals
  • Works closely with VP of Sales and Sales Training to execute regional/national sales meetings
  • Attend major trade show conferences
  • Ensure that all activities are executed in accordance with internal Santen policies and adhere to US legal and compliance parameters Represent materials at Promotional Review Committee (PRC) and obtain approval from that group; ensure that all activities are executed in accordance with internal Santen policies and US legal and compliance parameters

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 10 years of previous relevant pharmaceutical/medical device commercial sales experience, including 3 years of experiences as a Regional or District Sales Manager (leading Sales Representatives or similar)
  • Ophthalmology experience is strongly preferred
  • Strong clinical acumen with an ability to effectively communicate complex scientific data
  • Strong comfort in navigating and selling within an academic/teaching institution strongly preferred
  • Successful experience with launching new products preferred
  • Experience building sales teams/organizations from the beginning is preferred
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Executive presence and excellent organization skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications and navigating within a CRM
  • Ability to travel significantly (up to 100% of time)
