Why Join Intellia?

Our mission is to develop curative genome editing treatments that can positively transform the lives of people living with severe and life-threatening diseases.

Beyond our science, we live our four core values: One, Explore, Disrupt, Deliver and feel strongly that you can achieve more at Intellia. We have a single-minded determination to excel and succeed together. We believe in the power of curiosity and pushing boundaries. We welcome challenging thoughts and imagination to develop innovative solutions. And we know that patients are counting on us to make the promise a reality, so we must maintain high standards and get it done.

We want all of our people to go beyond what is possible. We aren't constrained by typical end rails, and we aren't out to just treat people. We're all in this for something more. We're driven to cure and motivated for change. Just imagine the possibilities of what we can do together.

How you will Achieve More with Intellia

As a Senior Scientist in the Non-Viral Vector Biology group, you will help advance Intellia's gene-editing platform and pipeline. This role will develop scalable processes for the production and purification of DNA payloads to advance Intellia's gene-editing platform. The position is within the platform innovation team and will work closely with colleagues in Tech Ops, Formulations, and Analytical Development.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Plan and execute experiments to develop manufacturing and purification methods of DNA payloads
  • Optimize methods for scalable DNA production using process engineering and application of new technologies to improve production performance
  • Tech transfer research-grade processes to Intellia's internal manufacturing team for scale-up
  • Author protocols, SOPs, and batch records
  • Interpret and communicate data as part of multi-disciplinary teams
  • Maintain a detailed electronic laboratory notebook

About You

We are seeking an innovative scientist with experience producing and purifying nucleic acids for delivery into cells. The ideal candidate thrives on working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, displays outstanding communication skills, and is passionate about pioneering new gene-editing technologies to treat diseases. Other important qualities include:
  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomolecular Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related field
  • Hands-on molecular biology experience (e.g. PCR, ligation, restriction digests, and cloning)
  • Experience with downstream methods for purification of nucleic acids, including depth filtration, TFF, and chromatography
  • General knowledge of non-viral delivery methods and LNP formulation
  • Excellent bench skills with attention to detail and high standards for data integrity and quality
  • Highly organized
  • Strong communication skills with the proven ability to work collaboratively
  • Passion for applying new techniques and technologies

Meet your Future Team

The Platform Innovation team is a collaborative, energetic, and passionate group of individuals whose mission is to advance and differentiate Intellia's platform to enable curative therapies. You will join a team with vector design and production expertise, and work closely with leaders in the field of CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing. The candidate will have many opportunities to broaden his or her experience with multiple cutting-edge gene therapy technologies that advance Intellia's pipeline.

The team is currently working mostly onsite to execute workflows in a wet-lab environment. Therefore, the candidate must be local to Cambridge MA, or open to relocating. While some of the day-to-day operations may be home-office-based, maintaining a strong relationship with your teammates is critical for conveying your scientific expertise while fostering an environment for the growth of young scientists interested in a career in the biotech industry. If you join us, you can expect to be part of a hardworking and collaborative environment. We look forward to fostering your skills, learning from your experiences, and building a larger team to make a difference in patients' lives.
