Position Overview

Nektar has an exciting opportunity for an HR Generalist II to join their team!

Responsible for a variety of Human Resources activities. Provides advice, assistance, and follow-up on company policies, procedures, and documentation. Works to resolve specific policy-related and procedural problems and inquiries. May have responsibilities in the following areas, recruiting, employee benefits, immigration support, processing and maintaining employee files and records, providing support in various HR related topics, conducting employee onboarding and offboarding, and providing customer service to resolve issues. Analyzes data with useful HR metrics and may make conclusions or trends to assist with compliance with all federal and state employment practices and laws. This position contributes to and supports the company's research and development efforts to create high value therapeutics to address unmet medical needs.

  • Responsible for delivering Human Resources activities such as conducting interviews, answering benefit questions, coordinating and/or administering training, and supporting the performance management process.
  • Coordinates and/or conducts employee-relations activities and programs including but not limited to employee counseling, interpretation of policies, new employee orientation, and employee recognition programs; works closely with management teams and employees to resolve day-to-day issues.
  • Leads and/or supports various employee programs to include the gym reimbursement program, service awards, recognition rewards, and employee morale events.
  • Administers company Human Resources' policies, procedures, and practices in accordance with stated corporate objectives and federal and state legal requirements.
  • Initiates employee related transactions including changes and terminations, conducts exit interviews, and coordinates replacement positions.
  • Conducts investigations into employee claims or other company policy/guideline violations.
  • Works on special projects with limit as assigned.
  • Provides outstanding customer service by way of knowledge, timeliness, and accuracy in responding to customer inquiries and requests.
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related discipline is required. Equivalent experience may be accepted. Professional certification such PHR, SHRM-CP or advanced degree is a plus. A minimum of 2 years of directly related experience is required. Previous experience working in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or medical device industry is preferred.

  • Knowledge and understanding of federal and state labor laws and regulations is desired.
  • Experience administering Human Resources' policies and guidelines is required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a fluency in the concepts of HR functional disciplines such as Compensation & Benefits, Employment, and Training & Development.
  • Must be able to work with a high attention to detail.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with HRIS applications is desired.
  • Must be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate time management, priority management, planning and coordination/multi-tasking skills.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm is required.
