About the position:  The GreenLight team is actively searching for a Sr. Research Associate for our new pilot plant. This individual will work closely with the development and production teams at the company, performing a wide range of analytical assays to quantify and characterize processes.  Strong technical, organizational, and communication skills, along with a commitment to excellence and high-quality work are required.

About the company: GreenLight Biosciences solves big problems facing society in agriculture, human health, and animal health through scientific innovation. Our pipeline of biopesticides have similar efficacy to traditional chemical pesticides while being safe to both non-target organisms like pollinators and the environment. The company is currently building on expertise in the cost-effective production of RNA to rapidly accelerate efforts in life sciences. Using our proprietary mRNA platform and collaboration with leading industry partners, GreenLight is developing a pipeline of RNA based vaccines and therapies to address critical public health challenges. The GreenLight team is over 150 people across our headquarters in Medford, MA and an R&D facility in Research Triangle Park, NC. Construction is underway on a pilot scale biomanufacturing plant in Rochester, NY. 


Key Position Responsibilities

Operate and maintain analytical instrumentation, including HPLC/UPLC systems

Perform and report on procedures to quantitatively measure analyses in a variety of matrices for analytical testing support.

Conduct Microbiology Testing, methods and techniques

Help deploy/commission new bench top lab equipment

Work with remote R&D teams on method transfer

Develop, evaluate and update ISO/QMS procedures

Be accountable for accuracy of data analysis and timely processing of samples

Work collaboratively with other R&D team members to accomplish project goals and milestones

Provide general laboratory assistance including lab equipment maintenance, preparation of reagents, and ordering/receiving of lab supplies

Evaluate lab practices for compliance and operational excellence improvement on a continuous basis.

Commissioning of new lab equipment


Position Requirements

B.S. or M.S. in chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology or equivalent

5+ years industry experience working in an analytical chemistry laboratory, preferably at an industrial biotechnology company

Experience with HPLC/UPLC required

Experience with Agilent Chemstation required

Microbiology lab experience a plus

Requires experience in method and equipment troubleshooting

Strong attention to detail, problem solving abilities and a willingness to help wherever needed

Ability to achieve and maintain high standards with meticulous attention to detail
