SENIOR TAX MANAGER

Position Summary:

Global Blood Therapeutics (GBT) is seeking a seasoned Senior Tax Manager, reporting to the Tax Director. This individual will be an integral part of both the tax and finance organizations and assist with various tax functions including global tax provision and compliance, R&D tax credit study, tax controversies, and tax research and planning on domestic, state and international tax matters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage/review the company's global tax provision and related disclosures, (including compiling information for tax provision, review of quarterly and annual income tax provision workpapers, journal entries, and disclosures, documentation of uncertain tax positions, and analysis of tax accounts to ensure compliance and integrity of account balances/financial reporting). Manage and support the external auditors' review of the income tax provision
  • Review quarterly international tax provision packages, ensuring all transfer pricing related accounting entries recorded in compliance with the company's TP policies
  • Review the company's US and foreign corporate tax returns and supporting workpapers
  • Prepare federal and California R&D credit calculation and documentations
  • Prepare/review indirect tax returns (VAT, GST, business property tax and etc.)
  • Coordinate and manage federal, state and local tax audits and related matters,
  • Develop and maintain SOX control documentations
  • Conduct tax research on various US and International tax matters and assist with international tax structure implementation
  • Manage tax calendar to ensure timely filings and payments
  • Assist in special tax projects as needed

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience of tax provision/compliance related experience, including some international income tax experience in SEC registered companies
  • Big 4 public accounting as well as industry experience with a CPA certificate preferred
  • Strong US and foreign income tax knowledge and hands-on experience with tax issues of multinational companies in biopharmaceutical industry
  • Prior experience with NetSuite preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office - Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact successfully internally as well as with external service providers and the ability to document the positions taken
  • Proactive, transparent work style and takes ownership and responsibility for assigned duties
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule as required to liaise with foreign colleagues in different time zones
  • Ability to prioritize tasks appropriately, execute with accuracy and meet deadlines
