Thank you for your interest in a career at Senti Biosciences. Our mission is to create a new generation of smarter medicines that outmaneuver complex diseases in ways previously inconceivable. We are passionate about designing gene circuits to improve the "intelligence" of cell and gene therapies in order to enhance their therapeutic effectiveness against a broad range of diseases that conventional medicines are unable to address.

At Senti, we find purpose and meaning knowing that our efforts have the potential to improve the lives of patients and their families with more effective and safer treatment options. With science as our foundation and empathy as our key guiding principle, colleagues become friends, managers become mentors, and with time, cancer becomes history.

Senti Bio is seeking a collaborative and passionate Scientist/Engineer to join our Gene Circuit Discovery group. This is a challenging position at the intersection of lab automation and human cell engineering. The Scientist/Engineer will develop automated approaches for optimizing cell therapies using high throughput (HT) genetic engineering, tissue culture, and phenotypic screening. By playing a central role in cross-functional communications, the Scientist/Engineer will propagate HT workflows to internal teams, enhancing the scope and pace of research. In addition to exhibiting a passion for cell therapies such as CAR-T/CAR-NK, the successful candidate will value and demonstrate Senti's core employee attributes: empathy, collaboration, intellectual curiosity, and intrinsic motivation.

Responsibilities
    • Develop and deploy automated workflows for the genetic engineering of primary NK cells as well as for the assays performed on those cells (including multicolor flow cytometry, ELISA, and Luminex)
    • Collaborate with lead scientist to analyze data and present results to downstream stakeholders
    • Document experiments by generating timely records of protocols and data using Senti's electronic lab notebook
    • Partner with group members and internal research teams to deploy new automation tools and techniques

Qualifications
    • PhD (Scientist); or MS with 3-5 years industry experience (Engineer)
    • 2-3 years experience in lab automation, including demonstrated experience in; programing liquid handling robots to execute high throughput screens, establishing new automation protocols and workflows, teaching non-experts to use lab automation instrumentation
    • Proficiency with tissue culture and basic molecular biology
    • Familiarity with the fields of cell engineering, synthetic biology, and/or CAR-T/CAR-NK; more hands-on experience can partially substitute for automation experience. Skills would ideally include: Primary immune cell culture, Transfection and viral transduction, Immunophenotyping and flow cytometry, ELISAs or Magpix assays, Functional assays, e.g. cytotoxicity, Design of synthetic genes, proteins, and regulatory circuits
    • Ability to independently plan research and confidently troubleshoot problems
    • Proven record of collaborative teamwork in a fast-paced research setting
    • Enthusiasm for effective communication in a cross-functional environment

Salary and Benefits
    • Base pay and stock options to be determined based on application qualifications with the aim of being competitive with similar roles in the area
    • Significant growth opportunity as the company expands
