JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a senior bioinformatics engineer to drive the development of new algorithms and R&D software pipelines for our burgeoning Technology Innovation group. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in collaborative research, analysis of large-scale functional genomic datasets, and pipeline development for computational biology. They will enjoy working collaboratively with machine learning scientists, computational biologists, and laboratory scientists on a range of exciting scientific problems. This is a unique opportunity to gain broad experience in a startup environment and to make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Develop algorithms to support computational biology R&D efforts
• Lead exploratory analyses of functional genomic and molecular datasets to drive new insights
• Create efficient computational pipelines and tools for analyzing and visualizing large-scale biological datasets
• Work collaboratively with computational and laboratory scientists to execute complex analyses and streamline bioinformatics workflows
• Grow into leadership roles by mentoring and training junior scientists and research associates
• Read and provide feedback on scientific papers and emerging NGS technologies
• Document, communicate, and present work to a broad audience both internally and externally in the form of meetings, presentations, and publications

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

• MS or PhD in bioinformatics, bioengineering, computer science, or equivalent
• 2-4 years relevant experience working in genomics or biotechnology preferred
• Experience developing robust pipelines for processing and analyzing functional genomic and molecular data
• Strong foundation in molecular biology and statistics
• Experience with at least one scripting language (Python preferred) and one database language (e.g., SQL)
• Experience with workflow systems (e.g., Airflow, Luigi, or Snakemake) preferred
• Strong communication and presentation skills and ability to work cross-functionally
• Prior startup experience preferred
