Scientist, Protein Biochemistry

Regeneron's Protein Biochemistry Group, in Tarrytown NY, is seeing a biophysical chemist with a strong background in computational biophysics. We perform extended biophysical characterization of all therapeutics for our pipeline, is seeking a biophysical chemist. In this role, you will provide in-depth biophysical and biochemical characterization of protein-based therapeutics and novel modalities to support programs in late stage research through IND.

A Typical Day In the Role of Scientist in our Protein Biochemistry Group May Include the Following:
• Independently craft and conduct computational and wet protein biophysical and biochemical experiments; analyzes data to elucidate quality attributes of protein-based candidates and/or products.
• Provide computational and experimental biophysical support for both upstream and downstream functional areas; help solve problems in real-time.
• Take a leading role in efforts to characterize various modalities within specified timelines and works optimally in matrix-based team within protein biochemistry.
• Meticulously document experiments, results and findings in electronic laboratory notebook; presents work at group and department meetings; contributes to drafting of analytical characterization reports, regulatory submission sections, and peer-reviewed articles for publication.
• Serve as a team representative in drug candidate-specific development team meetings, and share knowledge and expertise of biophysical chemistry at cross-function team meetings.

This Role Requires a PhD in biophysical chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering or equivalent with 2-4 years post-doctoral training or combined with industry experience in analytical characterization of proteins. Prior experience in or collaboration with the biopharmaceutical industry is preferred. Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in size-based methods (Analytical Ultracentrifugation, Static/Dynamic Light Scattering, and liquid chromatography).
Demonstrated experience in conducting all-atom and coarse-grained simulations of proteins or related biological macromolecules using molecular dynamics engines such as GROMACS, NAMD, or DESMOND is essential. Experience with Free-energy Perturbation, Metadynamics, and related advanced sampling methodologies are a plus.
The candidate must demonstrate broad, in-depth knowledge of colloidal and macromolecular physics and biophysics and how this applies to proteins, polymers, viruses, particles and nucleic acids.
