Prometheus Biosciences is a San Diego-based public biotechnology company pioneering a precision medicine approach to the discovery, development, and commercialization of novel therapeutics and companion diagnostic products for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The company's precision medicine platform combines proprietary bioinformatics discovery methods with one of the world's largest gastrointestinal multiomics database to identify novel therapeutic targets and companion diagnostic approaches that will enable tailored treatments based on molecular patient stratification.

Working in close collaboration with the Vice President of Immunology and the R&D leadership team, and collaborating across multiple functional areas, the Director of Immunology will play a key leadership role in driving strategy and execution of Prometheus's Discovery efforts from target discovery, target validation, CDx and biomarker discovery, drug candidate screening and selection through IND submission.

This key member of the R&D team will be responsible for therapeutic target hypothesis generation, validation and pre-clinical IND enabling studies. S/he will work closely with the clinical colleagues and collaborators in the translational clinical space as well as data science teams to strategically leverage clinical and translational multidimensional data to inform discovery and development of molecular stratification-enabled novel treatments, as well as put in place translational strategies for early development programs.

Additional responsibilities include managing and mentoring a growing team of program leads and bench scientists of various levels on planning and execution to deliver on program strategy and deliverables. The Director of immunology will ensure overall sound experimental design and use of cutting-edge techniques and technologies to interrogate biological pathways and define their role in disease and set the strategy for targeting them for therapeutic intervention.

This is a unique opportunity to join a top-tier organization pioneering precision medicine approaches in a large market with a dire unmet need and set the scientific foundations to build a leading global immune therapies company.
