Position Summary:

The Clinical Outsourcing Specialist is a contract position within GBT's Clinical Development team, reporting to the Director, Clinical Outsourcing. The Specialist is accountable for the coordination and/or management of key clinical outsourcing related activities such as vendor selection, contract management and the overall conduct of Clinical Outsourcing activities in support of the Development organization.

This position will be a self-motivated individual who is detail orientated, adept at multi-tasking and is a team player.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contract and procurement management in support of GBT's Development organization. This includes:
    • Liaising with external vendors to ensure contract related documents are submission ready and meet legal and financial requirements
    • Submitting contract requests to GBT Legal via GBT's procurement operations system (Zycus)
    • Managing the traffic of in-process contractual documents to ensure timely and compliant execution
    • Facilitating purchase requests and proper financial approvals
  • Through close collaboration with functional partners such as Legal, Finance and others in the Development organization; develop and maintain positive working relationships and transparent communications
  • Ensure compliance to company procedures by leading the completion and management of required business documents such as Vendor Selection Forms, Vendor Qualification Forms, etc.
  • Assist members of the Clinical Outsourcing team in tracking departmental activities and managing internal resources such as the outsourcing project tracker, vendor contact database and others
  • Participate in and help manage vendor governance and relationship management efforts
  • Ensure contractual, budgetary and procurement related information is regularly disseminated and assist in the resolution of related issues or concerns
  • Contribute to continued process improvement efforts, including but not limited to department processes to ensure adherence to GBT's standards and efficient operations
  • Gather and report data to support departmental KPIs and metrics intended to measure departmental processes
  • Help coordinate and schedule both internal and external meetings related to vendor selection and governance activities
  • Adhere to GBT's working practices and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Drive ad-hoc business projects as necessary


  • Bachelor's degree (preferred) or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years of professional experience, preferably in biotechnology or life sciences companies with a working knowledge of drug development and the conduct of clinical trials
  • Experience using Zycus (iSupplier, iContract, eProcurement) and familiarity with Finance (FP&A)/Procurement processes, a plus
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, but to think independently and lead initiatives
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Applies strong analytical and business communication skills
  • Ability to efficiently perform multiple tasks and manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
