Our Protein Development group at Regeneron is seeking Scientist to aid in Purification and biochemical characterization of protein reagents and antibodies in support of the company's Research programs. In this exciting position you will will work closely with Scientists in the research biology groups to help deliver needed purified proteins needed for research efforts.

A Typical Day in the Role of Scientist Might Look Like:

  • Supplying the research groups with proteins or protein complexes for their research.
  • Purify and characterize needed reagents to help with continuing efforts in research to further their projects
  • Develop purification procedures, drawing on available literature and previous experience, but then breaking new ground and using results from first attempts to refine the procedures for the next attempts. In the most challenging cases, you will be attempting things that may have never been done before.
  • Continually creating very diverse proteins, including: soluble proteins, integral membrane proteins, multi-protein complexes, antibodies, and engineered constructs
  • Proteins expressed and purified from bacterial, insect, and mammalian cell systems.
  • Working along with the expression group and with the research group on the difficulties of the reagents.

This Role Might Be For you If You:

  • Can work on multiple projects simultaneously,
  • Have excellent record-keeping and time management skills
  • Possess the ability to absorb new information rapidly
  • Are highly self-motivated and able to direct the course of their own work without extensive supervision

This role requires a PhD in a scientific field with 0-3 years proven experience.

The successful candidate should have a strong track record of protein expression and purification in a variety of projects. The structural biology samples to be worked on in this position will come from different expression systems, including bacteria, insect cells, and mammalian cells, and will include both soluble and membrane proteins. A candidate with experience across this spectrum will be preferred, although we do not expect any one person to have done all of this. The candidate should have experience with most standard protein purification techniques, including size-exclusion, ion exchange, and affinity chromatography, and protein characterization by SDS-PAGE and Western blotting.

We will be looking for candidates with innovative ideas in protein biochemistry and a strong drive to succeed in challenging projects. Structural biology is very demanding in protein quality, and many proteins are difficult to express and purify to the necessary level. We want an individual who enjoys overcoming difficulties like these.
