We are looking for a seasoned and passionate leader to propel our Chemistry Development team through the next wave of innovation and productization. This is a key leadership role within our Chemistry and Consumable organization requiring a flexible, interdisciplinary background and the ability to collaborate closely with the Consumables, Biochemistry, System Integration, and Process Development functions.
 
In this role, you will drive our Chemistry Development roadmap, from the design phase to a robust product. You will build and grow a world-class team of Scientists, be accountable for relationships with suppliers and external partners, and champion innovation by leveraging our proprietary chemistries. Because of the highly collaborative nature of this role, we are looking for a strong technical leader and communicator with highly developed interpersonal skills.


Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all activities pertaining to chemistry development
  • Build and grow a world-class team of scientists and engineers to develop innovative reagents and scalable processes
  • Keep updated on the latest technologies and processes while leading the internal chemistry development roadmap
  • Work alongside other scientists and engineers to define designs and specifications
  • Coordinate with external partners to develop raw materials and processes and select tools according to established timelines
  • Explore analytical methods and tools to ensure quality, consistency, and robustness
  • Participate in transferring tools and processes to manufacturing
  • Work closely with other functions (Consumable, Biochemistry, System Integration, and Operations) to troubleshoot issues and sustain activities
  • Plan activities, define timelines, assess risk, and communicate roadmaps to technical teams and senior leadership
  • Other duties as assigned



Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biophysics, Materials Science, or a related field of study with 10 years of relevant industrial experience with increasing levels of responsibility (an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered)
  • Deep knowledge of synthetic chemistry approaches, surface chemistry, bioconjugation techniques polymers and advanced materials
  • Demonstrated background in the development of scalable chemical processes, preferably in the biomedical devices industry
  • Significant experience in product development processes and practices, including documentation, transfer and sustaining activities
  • Proven ability to manage technical teams and communicating across the company at multiple levels
  • Experience in planning, tracking, and execution of complex, interdisciplinary projects
  • Skilled in managing and negotiating with national and international suppliers and partners
  • Demonstrated track record of innovation in materials, processes, and methods
