Position Summary

LakePharma is a leading biologics company specializing in antibody and protein engineering, cell line development, and protein production. Our services can be fully integrated, creating a customized solution for all our customer’s molecular biology, cell line, and protein needs. 

We are rapidly growing and seeking a highly motivated individual to join our highly collaborative BioExpression Team as a Senior Research Associate. In this role you will provide scientific and technical contributions in our BioExpression team and report directly to our technical lead. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform mammalian transient protein/antibody production and purification using a variety of affinity chromatography techniques
  • Characterize proteins via CE-SDS, SE-UPLC, Octet, and other approaches
  • Serve as project lead, train and/or mentor junior staff in development of technical skills
  • Communicate project updates and technical reports to cross function teams and senior management
  • Monitor the work of others and redirect efforts to achieve task/project objectives or enhance quality
  • Provide general lab support and management
  • Participate in procurement of materials and perform or oversee routine maintenance on instruments and equipment
  • Maintain detailed lab records and perform electronic data entry using proprietary software
  • Ability to recognize and trouble shoot anomalous and inconsistent experimental results
Requirements
  • Ph.D. or MS in Biology, Biochemistry, or related fields with 2-5 years of industry experiences.
  • Hands-on experience with a wide range of cell transfection (e.g. CHO, HEK293, etc.) and protein purification techniques are required.
  • Thinks critically and creatively and can work independently, determine appropriate resources for resolution of problems
  • Experience with various analytical methods is a plus.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including verbal, written, and scientific data presentation
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work in a team-oriented and highly collaborative environment
  • Excellent organizational, time management and record-keeping skills
  • Strong ability to work on multiple projects at once with minimal supervision  

Work Environment

Work is performed in an office and laboratory environment. May be exposed to biological and chemical hazards. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 30lbs. Must be able to work while wearing personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, gloves, and lab coats deemed necessary to protect testing and to protect employees. Work is to be performed on site.
