Why Join Intellia?

Our mission is to develop curative genome editing treatments that can positively transform the lives of people living with severe and life-threatening diseases.

Beyond our science, we live our four core values: One, Explore, Disrupt, Deliver and feel strongly that you can achieve more at Intellia. We have a single-minded determination to excel and succeed together. We believe in the power of curiosity and pushing boundaries. We welcome challenging thoughts and imagination to develop innovative solutions. And we know that patients are counting on us to make the promise a reality, so we must maintain high standards and get it done.

We want all of our people to go beyond what is possible. We aren't constrained by typical end rails, and we aren't out to just treat people. We're all in this for something more. We're driven to cure and motivated for change. Just imagine the possibilities of what we can do together.

How you will Achieve More with Intellia:

As a Scientist in our Target Discovery group, you will provide your expertise with T cell engineering, CRISPR screening, and Next-Gen Sequencing (NGS) to discover new targets for our industry leading cell therapy products for the treatment of patients with cancer. Key responsibilities include:
  • Lead efforts develop a virus-free CRISPR screening approach in primary human T cells to discover and validate immune enhancing edits (IEEs)
  • Identify IEEs that improve engineered T cell performance in immuno-suppressive solid tumor microenvironments
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with immunologists, genome engineers, and bioinformaticians to discover and validate targets
  • Provide key input to develop new technologies and gene editing approaches that aid in creating ‘bleeding edge' live cell products

About You:

We are looking for a candidate with a Ph.D. in Immunology, Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology or related discipline, with relevant CRISPR screening and/or NGS experience. If you are passionate and communicative, with exceptional time management skills, we encourage you to apply. Other important skills include:
  • T cell handling/engineering experience is required (T cell modification using virus, electroporation, etc., flow cytometry/FACS and/or magnetic bead-based cell separations, etc.)
  • Hands-on proficiency with sample prep for NGS and knowledge of downstream data analysis is highly desired; CRISPR screening experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of relevant immuno-suppressive mechanisms which enable tumors to evade an immune response
  • An open mind and a team-oriented attitude to synergize with amazing colleagues and set new expectations for what science can deliver

Meet your future team:

The Target Discovery group is a collaborative, energetic, and passionate group of individuals, that use genome editing to make the next generation of cell therapy products for immune-oncology indications. The hiring manager oversees Intellia's target discovery activities in the cell therapy space. Given the breadth of work on this team, the candidate will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of areas across all cell therapy platforms and programs.

The team is currently working mostly onsite to achieve company goals in the lab and vivarium. Therefore, we require a candidate to be currently local to Cambridge MA, or open to relocating. While some of the day-to-day operations may be home-office based, maintaining a strong relationship with your teammates is critical for conveying your scientific expertise while fostering an environment for growth of young scientists interested in a career in gene edit and cell therapy. If you join our team, you can expect to join a hardworking and collaborative environment. We look forward to developing your skills, learning from your experiences, and building a larger team that will make a difference in patient's lives.

Company

Many of us pursuing work in the biotechnology industry are inspired by a loved one who is living with a disease or the loss of someone in our community. Rare genetic and oncological and immunological diseases not only affect the people living with often debilitating and life-threatening symptoms, but these disorders also significantly impact their families, friends and caregivers.

Our researchers work tirelessly to harness the genome editing technology CRISPR/Cas9 for human therapeutic use. Jennifer Doudna, an Intellia co-founder, and Emmanuelle Charpentier were awarded the 2020 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for their pioneering work in CRISPR. We at Intellia are humbled to have a hand in making what we believe to be medical history. As a leader in this space, we take this responsibility to patients seriously.

We are employing a modular genome editing platform to create diverse in vivo and ex vivo pipelines, spanning a range of therapeutic indications. Guided by this full-spectrum approach, we are committed to making CRISPR/Cas9-based medicines a reality for patients suffering from genetic diseases and to creating novel engineered cell therapies for various cancers and autoimmune diseases.
