Adverum is currently seeking a Histologist candidate who is a highly motivated, passionate, experienced, energetic, and honest researcher who will support studies focused on evaluating mechanism and efficacy of drug candidates in gene therapy programs. The Microscopy and Histology group serves a core function for Adverum by supporting the multiple projects across our pipeline. Currently our emphasis is on combating ocular disease, with that, experience in ocular histology and anatomy is desired. Position title will be commensurate with experience.  
What you'll do:
  • Perform histology-related activities including tissue processing, embedding, sectioning (paraffin and cryo), staining, whole mount staining, and vibratome procedures.
  • Perform Immunohistochemistry, Immunofluorescence, and In-Situ hybridization labeling of tissues derived from preclinical and research studies.
  • Perform microscopy and imaging activities to support the groups core functions.
  • Support the various histology and microscopy core group functions.
  • Perform tissue dissections, grossing, and ex-vivo cultures.
  • Package and present data to departmental teams and project leads. 

About you:
  • Histotechnologist (HT/HTL) or BS in Biological Sciences, Pharmacology, or a related scientific discipline with 2+ years of experience; industry experience preferred.
  • Hands-on, bench-science expertise and understanding of antibody-labeling theory, protocols, and expected results.
  • Experience performing in-situ hybridization/RNA-Scope assays, both manual and automated.
  • Experience performing tissue dissection and tissue grossing to accommodate the needs of any project.
  • Experience automating IFL and IHC procedures.
  • Ex-vivo tissue culture experience
  • Excellent record-keeping, careful attention to detail and possess good time-management skills to successfully manage multiple priorities.
  • The ability to work independently and to collaborate with a multi-disciplined group in a goal- and team- oriented setting, strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
  • Analyze data, interpret results, and maintain accurate records with minimum supervision.
  • Preference given to candidates experienced in ophthalmic histological techniques.
