Position Overview

Nektar has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Scientist, Bioanalytical Development to join their team.

This position contributes to and supports the company's research and development efforts to create high value therapeutics to address unmet medical needs. The Sr. Scientist's primary responsibility will be managing the analysis of pharmacokinetic samples from Nektar's clinical studies. This position will also be responsible for supporting the development and validation of ligand binding assays.

  • Represent Bioanalytical Development in cross functional study teams to maintain effective communication and provide project status and progress reports
  • Independently write and critically assess method development and validation plans and reports, SOPs, work plans
  • Review (QC) bioanalytical data and work with Nektar Quality to address audit findings
  • Oversee the transfer for assays to contract testing labs
  • Hires and trains staff at appropriate levels of need, leads performance reviews, and mentors and coaches junior staff on career development and growth
  • Lead activities to improve compliance in the Bioanalytical laboratory and for inspection readiness
  • A PhD in a scientific or engineering discipline is required. Equivalent experience may be accepted. A minimum of 5 years work experience in a biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry, preferably in a process development, is required. Post-doctoral work may serve as experience. Exceptional non-PhDs with demonstrated capabilities and/or significant experience may also be considered.
  • Experience leading and managing teams
  • Hands-on experience in relevant laboratory techniques
  • Experience working in a GxP environment, and strong working knowledge of GLP requirements, bioanalytical guidances and relevant white papers
  • Transferring assays to contract testing labs is a plus
  • Experience with electronic notebooks and Watson LIMS is a plus
  • Excellent project management and organization skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications and teamwork spirit are essential
  • Must be goal-oriented, quality-conscientious, and customer-focused
