The Patent Attorney will assist in the development, protection, and management of Regeneron's intellectual property pertaining to the CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome engineering, anti-sense technologies, stem cells, and recombineering technologies. The role will focus on patent filings, due-diligence, landscape analyses, freedom-to-operate analyses, and validity assessment arising from collaboration with industry partners. You will build close client relationships with the outstanding scientific and business groups that bring Regeneron's science to life.

A typical day may include:
• Identifying and assembling new inventions relating to CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome engineering, anti-sense technologies, stem cells, recombineering technologies, and genetically engineered antibody platforms
• Preparing and prosecuting global patent applications relating to all aspects of technology platforms
• Leading outside counsel on various projects assocaited with patent filings
• Conducting patent landscape overviews, freedom-to-operate analyses, validity assessments, and patentability assessments concerning Regeneron's platform technologies, and presenting the results and analyses to senior members of the Law Department and Senior Leadership teams
• Handling the US and foreign administrative patent actions (e.g., post-grant oppositions, third party observations, inter partes reviews, etc.);
• Assisting in litigation activities as needed; and supporting due diligence projects, agreements and transactional work, administrative initiatives, and policy questions.

To be considered for this role you must possess, a Ph.D. in life sciences (e.g., molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry or related subject areas). A Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school; Admitted to practice before the USPTO and licensed to practice law in at least one state (member of the NY bar or eligible for in-house licensure in NY); 2-5 years of experience in a law firm setting or corporate law department working on patent applications in the biological arts. Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects and a large and sophisticated docket with minimal supervision. Outstanding communication skills, including presentation, interpersonal, writing and conflict resolution.

The Intellectual Property Group within the Regeneron Law Department is focused on protecting IP rights in Regeneron's biopharmaceuticals (including monoclonal antibodies, siRNAs, and CRISPR/Cas9 therapeutics) and the platform technologies that support identification, validation, characterization, and development of such biopharmaceuticals.
