Prometheus Biosciences is a San Diego-based public biotechnology company pioneering a precision medicine approach to the discovery, development, and commercialization of novel therapeutics and companion diagnostic products for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The company's precision medicine platform combines proprietary bioinformatics discovery methods with one of the world's largest gastrointestinal multiomics database to identify novel therapeutic targets and companion diagnostic approaches that will enable tailored treatments based on molecular patient stratification.

POSITION SUMMARY


Working in close collaboration with the Sr. Director, Project Management and senior leaders throughout the R&D and Executive teams, this high-impact leader will lead project teams across our growing portfolio with an emphasis on early development including discovery, validation, and preclinical development.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for effectively leading early discovery-stage portfolio project teams
  • Work with the project team leader to plan and track projects from early target validation to lead discovery
  • May be selected from diverse scientific backgrounds, but must exhibit knowledge across the drug discovery process from early feasibility up to IND, with a particular focus on early target validation and lead discovery
  • Collaborate closely with project team leaders to define project plan and timelines and enable team to execute on lead discovery project plan
  • Ensure projects achieve key deliverables and progress toward milestones according to timeline
  • Schedule team meetings, track meeting minutes and actions
  • Evaluate and implement cutting edge project management tools to maximize business impact


EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS/MS in Biology or related scientific discipline, with minimum of 7 years of combined scientific and project management experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical field.
  • A scientific PhD is desirable but not required
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a broad and integrated perspective when planning, problem solving, and assessing impact across functional areas; including the identification of potential issues and risk mitigation strategies
  • Ability to track meetings, understand and record project progress and action items in an interdepartmental team environment
  • Knowledge of research outsourcing, how vendors operate, and demonstrated ability to ensure CROs deliver against commitments
  • Deep understanding of project planning techniques, tools, strategies, and applications, with a willingness to learn new technologies and continually evolve how we operate
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
  • Adept at managing multiple projects/tasks simultaneously, switching between tasks quickly, and juggling competing priorities and yet maintaining attention to detail
  • Mature communication skills
  • Exhibit a high level of scientific and operational skills, and emotional intelligence.
