Principal Scientist - Computational Protein ScientistLiveWhat you will do
Lets do this. Lets change the world. We are currently seeking a team leader for our computational protein engineering team at our headquarter campus in Thousand Oaks, CA. The candidate should have strong expertise and proven accomplishments in computational and machine learning studies for proteins and protein engineering. In this vital role you will lead a small team of computational scientists and data engineers in support of broad biologics discovery and optimization at Amgen. The goal is to apply the most effective computational methods, including structural modeling, machine learning, and data science techniques to advance our biologics drug discovery programs, spanning multiple modalities including therapeutic proteins, antibodies, and various bispecific and conjugate molecules.

Basic Qualifications:Doctorate degree with 3 years of industrial experience
OR
Masters degree and 6 years of industrial experience
OR
Bachelors degree and 8 years of industrial experience
Preferred Qualifications:- PhD. in computational biophysics or related fields
- Strong track record of research accomplishment with five or more scientific publications or conference presentations in the area of computational protein modeling and engineering
- Strong and broad experience in antibody modeling and engineering in an industrial setting
- Proficient with one or more protein modeling software packages (MOE, Schrodinger, Rosetta, etc.)
- Strong experience in applying machine learning to study proteins
- Proficient in computer programming and scripting
- Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for working in an interdisciplinary team environment
