Who You Are:

The Senior Accounting Manager is an integral part of a growing accounting team who enjoys working in a fast-paced and rapidly growing environment, result-oriented, analytical, strong attention to detail, and highly motivated to deliver excellence in his or her work consistently.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor team members (senior and staff accountants and accounting managers)
  • Work with accounting team members to ensure accurate and timely completion of the close accounting process, account analysis,  roll forward,s and reconciliations of assigned general ledger accounts  (such as but not limited to marketable securities, investments in subsidiaries, equity method investments, restricted cash, prepaid and other assets, finance and operating  lease, long-lived assets, joint venture accounting, accruals, and other liabilities, term loans and convertible debt, stock-based compensation, common-control/ intercompany accounting, and equity)
  • Review journal entries and related supporting work papers. Ensure quality of work products and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements
  • Review/prepare cash flows
  • Review consolidation and non-controlling interest accounting
  • Liaise with other team members to conduct accounting research addressing accounting issues identified; provide technical accounting guidance to team members
  • Review and analyze invoices, agreements, POs, etc. to determine the appropriate accounting treatments
  • Review the general ledger account fluctuation analysis, general ledger account reconciliations, and other analyses requested by management
  • Coordinate with other accounting team members in identifying, researching, and documenting significant accounting matters
  • Manage the quarterly review, interim and year-end audit, as well as tax requirements relating to account responsibilities and associated activities. Drive closure of any internal/ external request/open items on a timely basis
  • Identify opportunities to reduce the close accounting cycle, enhance existing procedures
  • Drive process improvements and contribute to accounting transformation projects such as, but not limited to, system implementation
  • Assist Controller and other members of the accounting team on ad hoc projects, as needed
  • Compliance with SOX requirements—ensure control procedures are executed and work paper documentation is SOX compliant; review and update control process flows and narratives; prepare all necessary data and analysis to support external audit, internal control, and SOX testing requests, among others


Education, Experience & Skills Requirements:
  • BA/BS degree in accounting
  • Certified public accountant
  • 7+ years of combined accounting/audit experience (biotechnology industry, preferred)/public accounting (Big 4, preferred)
  • In-depth knowledge of US GAAP
  • Extensive technical accounting experience (e.g., ASC 842, ASC810 (consolidation and non-controlling interest accounting), cash flows preparation, equity method accounting, lease accounting, convertible debt, long-lived asset impairment, among others)
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong work ethic including sound judgment, outstanding interpersonal skills, and ability to work independently
  • Able to work with a high volume of transactions in a fast-paced environment
  • Results and goal-oriented mindset with an opportunistic eye towards process improvements
  • Strong ability to prioritize and organize work effectively
  • Must be able to collaborate and communicate (oral and written) effectively
  • High sense of urgency and ability to identify creative solutions to advanced, time-sensitive problems by balancing achievement of process objectives with practical considerations.
  • A high degree of organizational agility, able to handle sensitive issues with prudent discretion across all levels of the organization
  • Commitment to delivering quality results and overcoming obstacles and challenges in a time-sensitive environment
  • Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple work streams while remaining calm and effective under pressure
