Molecular Templates is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and development of differentiated, targeted, biologic therapeutics. Position Overview:

Molecular Templates is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Laboratory Manager to join the growing Antibody Discovery team within Research and Development. This person will ensure that our Antibody Discovery labs are safe, equipped, and ready to help our talented Scientists perform the important work of innovation and exploration in our field.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide mammalian cell culture and bacteriophage support including growth, maintenance and scale-ups of recombinant cell lines, creation of helper phage stocks, colony picking and additional general lab support as needed
  • Coordinate laboratory services and maintain an adequate inventory of research lab reagents, consumables, and glassware
  • Assist with MTEM's Supply Chain management including consumables, receivables, manage outgoing and incoming shipments, and record all receivables
  • Work within MTEM and NYU Biolabs purchasing systems and be responsible for all reagent/consumable purchasing and tracking
  • Ensure effective operation of all laboratory equipment, and serve as point of contact for instrument repairs; maintain a list of service contracts and maintenance records
  • Seek to continuously improve laboratory safety, services, processes, and procedures
  • Maintain an Electronic Laboratory Notebook including inventory management and protocol updates
  • Organize and participate in vendor negotiations, product and software evaluations, tutorials, and facility modifications
  • Act as a liaison between the Antibody Discovery department and the NYU Biolabs scientific staff
  • Provide technical input to Purchasing and other functional areas
  • Train new scientific staff in the general use and function of designated instrumentation, and create and refine user protocols for general use
  • Exercise good judgment within defined procedures and practices to obtain desired results
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by supervisor, as needed

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or related field, required
  • Five+ (5) years of experience in a life-sciences lab setting with a focus on laboratory process improvement, operational administration, and collaboration
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture including growth and maintenance of recombinant HEK and CHO cell lines, required
  • QC of recombinant cell lines by Flow Cytometry, a plus
  • Experience with growth/maintenance of bacterial cultures or M13 bacteriophage, a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills with knowledge of spreadsheets, Smartsheets, and statistical analysis software. Experience with Benchling is a plus.
  • Excellent project management, time-management, and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to function independently and exercise good judgement, as well as work closely in cross-functional teams to support multiple preclinical stage programs
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, high-growth and team-based work environment


Reporting Structure:

This position currently has no direct supervisory responsibilities. This position reports to the Vice President, Antibody Discovery.
