Senior Manager Data Sciences - Digital Process and Systems Analysis

This role is in a coordinated bioprocess development group working to advance Amgens digital capabilities. The position provides the outstanding opportunity to work on the implementation of state-of-the-art digital technologies to support Amgens commercial operations and pipeline development.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing digital solutions (models, algorithms, data transformations, software applications, etc) to improve the efficiency, reliability, and agility of process development business processes.

Lets do this. Lets change the world. In this vital role you will evaluate and improve Amgens systems used in process development and commercial operations. This position will bring scientific rigor, modeling, and statistical methods to the challenges of process development with an appreciation for the behavior of end-users. This role will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of data scientists, engineers and IS professionals to advance Amgen operations digital strategy.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Work with large, sophisticated data sets. Solve difficult, non-routine analysis problems, applying analytical methods as needed. Conduct analysis that includes data gathering and requirements specification, processing, analysis, ongoing work, and presentations.

  • Build and prototype analysis pipelines iteratively to provide insights at scale. Develop extensive knowledge of Amgen data structures and metrics, advocating for changes where needed for product development.

  • Interact multi-functionally, making business recommendations (e.g., cost-benefit, forecasting, experiment analysis) with effective presentations of findings at multiple levels of partners through visual displays of quantitative information.

  • Research and develop analysis, forecasting, and optimization methods to improve the quality of Amgen systems that for end-users

  • Provide technical and strategic leadership to team to successfully execute digital initiatives

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years data science experience in industry

Or

Masters degree and 6 years data science experience in industry

Or

Bachelors degree and 8 years data science experience in industry

Or

Associates degree and 10 years data science experience in industry

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years data science experience in industry

And

2 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or advising the allocation of resources

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with programming languages (e.g. R, Python), database languages (e.g. SQL), and modeling (e.g. stochastic, machine learning) and Cloud based platforms (e.g. Databricks).

  • Experience developing reports and dashboards in data visualization software (e.g. Spotfire, Tableau, Dash).

  • A passion for data science applications in biopharmaceutical operations

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to multitask, effectively plan and follow through on complex projects

  • Demonstrated proficiency in solving complex problems, ability to work independently, seek outside resources and collaborate, self-starter and teammate with strong leadership and decision-making skills

  • Comfortable working at the intersection of computer science, engineering, and biology
