Regeneron's Bioreactor Development group (BSD), located in Tarrytown, NY and which scales-up Cell Culture processes for our Preclinical Manufacturing and Process Development (PMPD) organization at the company, is seeking an Engineer III who will work independently and mentor others in resolving critical problems in process development and scale-up.
A Typical Day in the Role Might Look Like:
  • Lead projects to support the development of integrated computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models with cell culture process models (mechanistic, empirical, or hybrid) to predict the impact of scale up on process performance and optimize scale dependent parameters.
  • Support PMPD and BSD vision to develop reliable and accurate predictive models and process digital twins to facilitate process development, transfer, and control.
  • Develop process equipment 3D CAD models and CFD simulations.
  • Support process development engineers with scale dependent parameter characterization DOEs (statistical experiment design and data analysis).
  • Lead data science projects focused on model development to optimize process scale up (reduce number of batches needed for process characterization and optimize process performance comparability across scales).
  • Advise on scale up strategy for clinically and commercially enabling process transfer to GMP manufacturing
  • Support investigations related to scale up and process transfer across sites.
  • Work collaboratively with other groups and departments at Regeneron to maintain alignment on model development and data science efforts.
  • Keep up with the latest scientific and engineering developments by reading the current literature and attending conferences. Encouraged to apply literature findings or synthesize external information to development of new processes.

This Role Might Be For You If You:
  • Possess a strong knowledge of research principles, theories, design and implementation. Keeps current in relevant literature.
  • Possess excellent organizational, communication, analytical and computer, and technical writing skills.

This role requires a MS with 3-5+ years of experience or a PhD with 0-3 years of experience. A degree in an Engineering discipline is required. Mathematical modeling and experience with JMP statistical software is preferred. Experience with ANSYS Fluent and SolidWorks is preferred. Mammalian cell culture and bioreactor operations knowledge is also preferred. Diverse in data analytics and programming a plus.
