Job Details

We are seeking a highly motivated and scientifically curious R&D Associate to join our fast-paced neuroscience team. The successful candidate will work both independently and as part of a collaborative team to perform hands-on research studies designed to investigate novel targets and mechanisms in neurological and neuro developmental diseases. Goals will include using or developing in vitro and in vivo assays for studying the basic mechanisms of nervous system functioning, and for uncovering the mechanisms underlying normal and disrupted behavior.

As an R&D Associate on the neuroscience team, a typical day might include the following:
• Establishing in vitro, ex vivo, and/or in vivo assays for evaluating nervous system functioning relevant to neurological or neuro developmental diseases, which could include genetic, surgical, or pharmacological models
• Performing behavioral analysis in models of neurological or neuro developmental diseases to assess the roles of specific proteins or molecular pathways in nervous system dysfunction. In some instances, evaluate these endpoints after genetic or pharmacological manipulations are performed.
• Conducting tissue assays such as Western blots, ELISAs, immunohistochemistry, RNAscope and/or RNA isolation to evaluate the effects of various manipulations on tissues
• Reading current literature in order to further develop expertise, new assays and growing scientific/technical knowledge and skill sets.
• Participating in meetings, sharing your ideas, and communicating your project plans or data.

This role might be for you if:
• You have strong organizational, time-management, and presentation skills.
• You are able to work optimally both in a team and independent environments.
• You are able to adapt to changing projects and priorities.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a field related to biomedicine, with a preference for a background in either neuroscience or cellular and systems biology. A minimum of one year of laboratory experience is required. Applicants should also have a high level of comfort handling small animals, and find the prospect of spending a lot of time evaluating animal behavior interesting. Applicants should possess basic computer skills such as MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. Previous experience with statistical software is a plus. Applicants with experience in Western Blotting, Immunohistochemistry, and/or ELISAs highly desired.
